Q: How much will it cost to repair blown head gaskets on a 2000 BMW 328i?
Im selling my ‘98 Buick for $4000 and I received a trade offer for a 2000 BMW 328i, but it doesnt run because of the blown head gaskets.

A: better be careful on this one because a blown head gasket on a BMW can mean about 1200-2000 bucks to repair,those are very expensive to work on ,you,ll have to have the head trued back up or a head gasket wont last long on it,and the gasket set alone for that one is well over 100 bucks just for the upper part of it,if the head is bad on it it will cost more than its worth to repair it,so be careful the 4 grand you get may all go in to repairing this one,i have done those before and their not cheap to work on at all,parts are high for those cars,good luck with it.

Q: How often do I change my oil for my 2007 bmw 328i?
How often(as in mileage) do i change my oil for my BMW 328i when before I changed it with synthetic oil and i am planning to use it again?

A: Here is what you do. I have the same car.

-Go to an auto parts store and buy about 7 or 8 quarts of BMW LL01 Approved Synthetic oil (I use Mobil 1 0W-40 European Formula. MAKE SURE IT IS BMW LL01 Approved !!! It will say right on it. There are lists of approved oils in almost all of the BMW forums. You should ALWAYS have a spare quart of oil in your trunk.

-Buy the filter for your specific car there too. (Don’t skimp on this… try to get Bosch. If absolutely necessary, Fram but I would rather not)

-Take it to a shop who will do it at an honest price (I have a guy that will do it for $20) I would do it myself but unlike my Jeep we can’t exactly crawl underneath these cars and it is nice to see your car up on a lift.

-MAKE SURE THEY DON’T OVERFILL IT!!!!! THIS CAN CAUSE THE OIL TO FOAM AND CAN RUIN YOUR ENGINE. “QUICK LUBE” PLACES ALMOST ALWAYS DO THIS BECAUSE THEY DON’T GIVE THE PROPER WAITING TIME FOR THE OIL TO SETTLE BEFORE CHECKING. CHECK YOURSELF NO MATTER WHAT!!! IT SHOULD BE EXACTLY AT THE FULL LINE AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES ON A PERFECTLY FLAT SURFACE.

- That aside, with synthetic oil I would change it every 7,000 miles.

Q: How many projected miles can the 2008 BMW 328i run flat tires go for?
I own a 2008 328i and i just want to know how many projected miles can i go before i need to replace the tires.

A: Alot of it depends on how you drive. If you have the Bridgestone Turanza the tire may get chopped before they get worn out. If you have the Continentals you are in luck. Either way you should get down to the nubs before 25,000. Agressive tires and suspension, The Ulitmate Driving Machine eats tires, and they are no cheap date

Q: Is it possible to drop a 1997 bmw 328i engine into a 1997 528i?
I have a 528 but the people in the junkyard say its not possible to drop a 328i, 728i, or a z3 2.8 engine into a 5 series. I think its possible to drop any of these engines into the 5 series, but i have some doubts concerning the VANOS system. Does the VANOS system change in between series.

A: It is hard to say what axle ratio you now have. There were so many possibilities because of wheel size, automatic (AT) or manual, and customization. Best is to jack the car up and measure it. Many of the BMW rear axles have a small metalic tag on the axle flange that tells you the tooth count of the ring and pinion. I see in a DINAN AD that they were getting the best 328i performance from a 3.15:1 limited slip ratio in 1997.

Q: Where can I find all the vital specs on an e36 328i cabrio?
I’m getting a white e36 328i cabrio soon and I’ve been looking for any and all vital specs I can find on the car. Also I’m looking for good pics of the interior and exterior of the car. Preferably websites please.

A: You narrowed down the year, but didn’t say exactly what year, so exact specs are still subject to change. Check out this website, change the year if necessary (click on all model years and then go from there), and then look at the different specs. Along the top you can change categories.

Q: What’s better, bmw 328i coupe, bmw 328i sedan, or infiniti g37 coupe?
I have the choice between 3 cars, the 2009 BMW 328i sedan, a 2008 328i coupe, or a 2009 infiniti g37 coupe. Whats better in terms of safety, performance, and reliability. I’m 17 years old and I’m thinking the G37 coupe might be a little TOO fast for me. What do you think?

A: If you don’t want speed, go with the BMWs. The G37 has 100 hp more than the 328i. IMO, the G37 is a little nicer and it is more reliable than the 328i sedan/coupe, but the 3 series is still a very, very nice car and it’s also more fuel efficient than the Infiniti.

Selecting the sedan or coupe is up to you.

Q: How to reset the computer in a 2007 BMW 328i?
I have a 2007 bmw 328i coupe and I just had it serviced and the guy forgot to reset the computer so it keeps saying its over and needs to be serviced. I don’t want to drive all the way back to him to reset it. Is there an easy way to do it?

A: Turn the car to on and dont start
press and hold the trip reset button until the service items come up.
using the scroll button on the turn signal stock go to your brake fault then press and hold the button on the end of your turn signal stock until the little clock comes up and hold until it says reset.

You can also reset your oil change and a few other things this way, just scroll to the one you want to reset.

I assume youve the american one, dont get the e92, 328 here. That should work.

Q: How many pounds of freon is needed to fill 1997 BMW 328i?
The car’s front-end was completely rebuilt including the hood replaced after an accident. The measurements went to the junkyard along with the hood! Can someone please check your specifications from your 1997 BMW 328i and let me know how much is needed to replace the freon charge? It would be greatly appreciated!

I am new to BMW, so originally I thought that there were only 2 in the 3 series (the 325, and the 330 with the larger engine). Now they have the 328i this year, and I don’t see a 325. What’s the method behind their number system,

2006 325i – 3.0 L I6, 215 hp. Sedan Only.
2006 325xi – 3.0 L I6, 215 hp. Sedan and Sport Wagon available.
2006 330i – 3.0 L I6, 255 hp. Sedan Only.
2006 330xi – 3.0 L I6, 255 hp. Sedan Only.
2007- 328i – 3.0 L I6, 230 hp. Sedan, Sport Wagon, Coupe, and Convertible available.

Looks like the only difference would be in head design, internal parts, exhaust restriction and tuning giving more horsepower to the 328.

Typically the 3 is the series and the 25, 28, 30 is the displacment in Liters. 2.5 L, 2.8 L, 3.0 L.
However in this case, there is no actual difference in displacement as there usually is between BMW’s. Appears that they are using the same block for all the engines from the 325-335.

They had previously done this with the 323/325 in the E46 generation. Both were 325 blocks with different tuning and restrictions.

Oh, and 328i – 325i = 3i…you would get “3″ the i’s would cancel.

Q: What specs, options and colored interior/exterior should i get for a BMW 328i?
Iam looking for a good looking Exterior/Interior for the BMW 328i and what specs/options should i get for it? Iam looking for a sportier and ballin car for more of a young person.

A: Funny you ask this question… I am 28yrs old and I just bought a 2008 BMW 328i (4door). I have Metallic BLACK with Beige interior.. If you want to go for a sporty and ballin car look I say BLACK on BLACK interior or Silver with BLACK interior. To make it look even cooler TINT the WINDOWS BLACK!!!! I went with the Beige interior with wood grain because I wanted it to look more business professional. I getting my car tinted tomorrow and can show you pictures if you would like of my 328I Metallic Black car… If you can afford a 2008 328i or 335i COUPE version that would be even COOLER!!! Stick to the silver or black exterior with TINT windows!!!

More importantly you have to be concerned about whats on the inside too: Make sure you get BLUETOOTH, IPOD USB connector, SPORT PACKAGE (XENON HEADLIGHTS), Winter Package (Heated seats), and other luxury amenities.

A: Nope burnt orange is more of a guy color. But it can also depend on the personality of the car. Is the car moded for aggressive high performance or a laid back edge?

If it’s stock I would have to say that its a guys car.

Q: What power increase will my e36 328i gain from a K&N typhoon induction kit?
I have a 1996 328i cabriolet, it has an excellent free flow performance exhaust system, otherwise the car is standard. I’m looking to add a K&N typhoon cold air intake system, I’m just wondering if the money is worth the power. What would the power gains be?

Q: How to replace back light reflector on a BMW 328i 1999?
I accidentaly cracked the drivers side rear reflector/light of my BMW 328i. I already got a replacement and now would like to try to remove the cracked one and fit the new one. I went thorugh the manual but only talks about how to replace the bulbs but nothing of how to replace the whole panel.

Can anyone give me step by step directions of how to do this?
