Q: Would anyone know how much a Spare BMW X5 key could cost?
I recently bought a BMW X5. The seller didn’t have a spare key, but i want to get one made, any idea’s on how much they cost?
A: I asked one time and they told me for a 3 series it’s about $100. They said it varies by each VIN #, so even if two people have the same exact car the key could cost different amounts of money. Just go to your local BMW dealer and go to the parts department, and give them the registration + VIN # and they’ll tell you exactly how much.
Q: Does the 2003 BMW X5 have an audio or auxiliary input?
I just got an iPod adapter for my car and I can’t find the audio input. There’s a good chance that my car doesn’t have one, but I’m not sure at all…Again, it’s a 2003 BMW X5.
A: I don’t think that those were put in until 2006. I have a 2001 X5 without an audio input but my wife’s 2006 330xi has the input in the armrest. There are add on iPod inputs as well as standard aux input available from www.bavauto.com and they have knowledgeable phone reps to make sure what you get will work.
Q: What drives better and more fun that BMW x5?
I currently have an X5 2002 and i love it how it drives and the tight steering feel and how it handles. but i hate repairs cost on it, BMW = bring my wallet. IS there any other car which has higher reliability and drives same or even better and fun to drive ?

A: Try test driving an Acura MDX or a Lexus RX300. I don’t think any other car company could build an SUV quite like those three.

Q: Is Craftsman garage door opener compatible with BMW X5 Remote System?
I have a Craftsman garage door opener. My BMW X5 has 3 buttons which you can program to open your garage doors, activate home alarm. I tried both options from the BMW manual to set it to open the garage doors but it doesn’t work.
If I’m too far away…what should the distance be from my car to the garage opener unit when I’m trying to activate the signal?
A: If you have a garage door opener that changes the code every time it’s used you may need two people to set the one in the X-5 to work for you and you need to be very close to the opener. Mine is like that and I had to be right under it and have another person work the opener while I worked the settings. The manual goes into that a little. So it depends on if you have rotating settings on the opener.
Q: My BMW X5 sometimes starts, and sometimes it doesn’t. How can I fix it?
I own a BMW X5 2002.
When I put in my key, it doesn’t start. I have to try multiple times to get it to start.
Any suggestions on how I can fix this? I do have mechanical experience.

A: When you get in, turn the key to the “ON” position. The dash lights will come on, wait until most go out and then try the “Start” position.
Q: i changed the brakes on my bmw x5 how do i reset the computer so that the brake light goes out?
the brake light went on the dash because the brakes needed changing. i changed both front and rear brakes on my 2002 bmw x5 and the light on the dash is still on how do i reset the computer so that the light goes out.
A: turn the key to the on position but do not start it. the light should reset after about 45 seconds. if not you will need to go to a mechanic that has a reset tool for the BMW
Q: How to remove the rear spoiler from a 20019 BMW X5(E70)?
I have a 2009 BMW X5 and I need to replace the rear spoiler and since the old one was ripped off I dont know how to get the new one on. Does anyone have instructions for this?
A: Same as what “somedude” said, but get rid of the redbull step.

Q: BMW x5 hard suspension,feels not very comfortable on not straight town road? Is it normal?
I have BMW x5 3.0i 2002. But it feels a little bit non comfortable when you drive at slow speed and not straight road and feels bounce,like driving truck but not luxury car. PS I had Lexus RX300 2002 before,which was so comfortable that you didnt even feel inside the road driving,maybe because of more soft suspension. Please any details is fine.
A: Sounds normal to me,… if you wanted luxury and comfort you should have test driven a Lexus…SUV
You MIGHT be able to get a slightly smoother ride by replacing the shocks/struts with “comfort ones”… but most of the FIRM ride comes from the Springs… you can also try replacing the current tires with slightly bigger/softer ones… im sure the current tires are a firm sport tire…

A: Fantastic question. All of the vehicles are all wheel drive (all with xDrive) with ability to switch between 100% of power going to the rear axle, an even 50/50 split, or anywhere in between. The numbers after that signify the engine option. The 30d (not available in US) and 35d are both diesel engine options, 3.0 liters. The 35d being the higher powered version equipped with twin turbochargers (245HP/400lb/ft). The 30i is a gasoline 3.0 liter with variable cam timing and variable intake valve lift (230HP/200lb/ft). All of these are inline 6 cylinder engines. Then there is the 48i. That is a 4.8L V8 with variable cam timing and variable valve lift (the valve lift is infinite, not two position like honda vtec or toyota vvti), and has 350HP/350lb/ft. The 48i also has much nicer features than the others. It has optional variable steering rario (active steering) and active roll bars (dynamic drive).
I like the 35d because I’m a diesel fan, but the add on features to the 48i make it handle so well (see youtube videos of it on the Nurburgring circuit)
Q: What other cars or sport trucks will fit BMW X5 17 in RIMS?
My neighbor is selling them but i dont know if they will fit my maxima….I think the Bmw x5 has a diff lug pattern that isnt even on a universal rim
A: theyre not gonna fit, the X5 wheels are 5×120 or close to it.
the offset issue will have to be addressed with spacers and adapters but technically theyll fit

Q: How do I unlock a bmw X5?
My brother has a bmw X5 2003 that he left sitting in his garage for 6 months. He went to start it, but it wouldnt unlock. there is no place for him to manually unlock the car, no place for the key to go into. Does anyone know how to unlock the car??
Where is the key hole in the drivers side door? We tried removing the cover on the handle of the door, but there was nothing there for us to put the key in……….
A: I assume the battery has completely discharged. There is a key hole on the driver’s door only. In the event of an electrical malfunction,
turn the key to the extreme left or right to unlock/lock the door.
Update- the key hole is right there on the driver’s door handle. You can;t miss it unless someone has changed the handles on the vehcile. See attached diagram.
If the door handle’s been changed you can go through the rear hatch.
1. Remove the plastic plug from inside the cargo area and pull toward the interior. The liftgate will be released

Q: On a BMW X5, what causes the exterior door handles to lift up as you pull on them?
My aunt bought an X5, and I noticed that the doorhandles move diagnoly up as you pull on them. What causes the hinge to do that. They do the same thing on saabs too. Do they do it on mercedes cars too?
A: It was designed to lift up that way on an angle so women would not damage their nails. sounds funny but true!
Q: Does Anyone Know of Any problems with BMW X5, Thinking Of Buying One 2000-2002 Model?
Just wondered if anyone knows of any serious problems BMW X5’s might have. Already own a 55 330cd m sport and have no problems with that but thinking of buying 4.4i X5 and converting it to LPG . All help greatly recieved.
A: Not heard of any specific problems with the X5.
The 4.4i is a thirsty beast even with lpg so you should be able to pick one up for less than you may think. Just do a HPI check before purchasing and if you take the registration number to your local BMW dealer, they will be able to tell you a bit about the history of the car. They can also tell you about any recalls on the car and if they have been carried out.
This worked for me. I was going to buy a 7 series but the registration number actually belonged to a 3 series. Saved me a lot of aggro.
