Q: BMW E60/2008 Funf/five series 550i CD Changer question?
Just wondering if anyone owns the new bmw 5 series (E60), then could someone tell me what the cd changer looks like. Because I know on Mercedes E-classes, the changer is in the boot, which isn’t very practical, is it? I mean, is it a slide secret compartment thing behind the radio or what? If you were kind enough, maybe even a picture could explain to me better than words. Just that I am a BMW enthusiast and wanted to know.
Thanks,
Tom

A: Hi Tom
The CD changer is in the glove box. I don’t have a picture but it is basically tucked in at the back out of the way so you can still use the glovebox for storage.

I believe there is a cartridge which pops out for you to load your discs into. This may have changed on the very recent models however as the new E70 X5 has a 6 disc changer in the glove box where you load each disc individually.

Hope this helps.
Joe

Q: HELP WITH THE NEW BMW!!?
ive just got a new bmw 5 series and it has’nt got a spare tire as it can run for 200 miles with a puncture now my question is how do you know if i has a puncture? does it say on the screen! x x

A: The car will display an orange (low tire) or red (flat tire) indicator on your instrument cluster (and also the I-Drive screen if equipped) to tell you when you have a low or flat tire.

Check your valve stem cap, if it is a gray plastic cap on a hard metal stem, then you have direct measurement, if its rubber with a black plastic or metal cap, then you have indirect. Direct systems (the newer type, measure the tire pressure directly and report it back to the car via radio) if you have indirect, the vehicle monitors wheel speed and notices changes and calculates accordingly.

Also, if you just bought your BMW new, (maybe even used too) most dealerships sell a tire warranty package for 300 to 500 dollars. Well worth it since Run Flat tires are not supposed to be plugged / patched (and MUST be replaced once they are driven flat for any distance) A single tire can cost anywhere from $300 to $500 each.

Q: why my bmw 5 series on slow acceleration jumps and accelerate extremely fast?
Im not use to driving my new used bmw 2003 525i sedan. Before that i was driving a toyota carmy 1989. Anyway, when i driving my bmw i notice that i having a difficult time controling a constant acceleration. It would start out extermly slow so i step on the gas pedal just slightly and all of sudden it would acceration extermely fast. the RPM when from 2000 rpm to 3000 rpm in an instant when all i did was step on the gas pedal just slightly during a slow acceleration around 15 mph to 20 mph. However when my car is going at around 30 mph and up, i don’t really notice this jump in rpm. My question is this normal, scine im not use to driving a high preformance car or is that some problem with my car?

A: It sounds like you may have a defective throttle control switch. Be careful, this condition can be very hazardous in heavy traffic. Is your CHECK ENGINE light turned on? Take you car to a BMW service center where they can read OBD-II FAULT CODES.

Q: Will the new car, I just bought, be a chick magnet?
I flip flopped on so many different cars. (older BMW 5 series, New Eclipse, and Hyundai Tiburon) But now I have decided on a 2004 BMW 325ci convertible. I’m still 16 and in high school so I think girls around my age really think highly of BMWs?

Background info: I’m average looking and kind of shy. But on the positive sides, I dress in nice clothes, am nice person, I think, and workout weekly.
To the girl that said I’m not all that great:… well like I said I’m not a extremely good looking guy nor am I the most outgoing so that’s why a nice car would help me with girls.

A: Yeah chicks will dig it!

Q: BMW 5-series question?
I am wanting to get a bmw 5-series for my 16th birthday. I notice how much the value of the beemers drop when the new ones come out. I know, currently I can get an 04 5-series for about 16 grand but a 2003 is like 12-11 grand. Will the new redesign that just came out bring down the 2004’s price to the 12-11 grand mark by the end of this year do you think? Also, would you recommend this car. I personally like that it is the cheapest one to get with the newer looking styling. If not, what would you reccomend.

A: The 2004-2010 models, I personally don’t like. You should get the 2003 one. You’ll have more money to spend on the car.

Q: BMW 5-series value question?
I am wanting to get a bmw 5-series for my 16th birthday. I notice how much the value of the beemers drop when the new ones come out. I know, currently I can get an 04 5-series for about 16 grand but a 2003 is like 12-11 grand.
A: I’m 21 and I have a 2005 m3. I know it’s not a 5-series but I love my BMW. I got it for 18.5 grand and 60k miles. It was a complete steal. When I got the car I got it appraised and it’s worth about 27 grand. I recommend BMWs because they’re such a quality car and it’s also very safe. Try looking for an m3! They’re a hot car for teenagers, let me tell you. I have an m3 coupe, it’s white with tinted rear lights. I’m glad that I chose to splurge and get the best for my money. You’ll be glad you do too if you get a BMW.

Q: After joining the Air Force, how long will it take for me to make enough money to buy a new BMW?
I’m 6′ 1″ and i was thinkin about getting a new 3 series or 5 series. What would yall recommend and how long should i wait. Also how much should i save for a down payment?

Thanks in advance!

A: Okay are you planning to buy or lease? If you are leasing, how long do you plan to lease and how many miles a year will you need? If you plan to buy will you go with a straight purchase or do the select program? What kind of equipment do you plan to get? Are you buying a 35,000 base 3-series sedan or a 65,000 fully loaded 3-series convertible? or are you planning on buying an M5 at just over a hundred grand? All of these things will make a freaking huge difference. So in answer to your question I guess I have given you more. Figure in any direction for a first time buyer you will need about 45% down unless you have an 850 credit score Co-X that makes over a hundred grand a year.

Q: Question about BMW 5-series?
I am wanting to get a bmw 5-series for my 16th birthday. I notice how much the value of the beemers drop when the new ones come out. I know, currently I can get an 04 5-series for about 16 grand but a 2003 is like 12-11 grand.
A: Believe me, you will not be able to afford the insurance for a BMW being a 16 year old. I recommend you to buy a normal 4 cylinder car.

Q: What wheels will fit a 1987 E28 BMW 5 Series?
Just bought a 1987 E28 BMW 5 series to take part in a charity rally and but it needs some new tyres as existing wheels are old metric ones and tyres are a fortune. So we have decided it is probably just better to replace the wheels and tyres together with a used set off ebay. Problem is though I am lead to believe that not all 5 stud wheels will fit, and not even all original BMW 5 stud wheels.

So i need some advice….. what wheels can i buy to fit?

Which model number BMW wheels can i buy to fit straight on?

A: The standard size was a 6×14 wheel with 195/70/14 tyres, I had one. Some of the wheels from the E34 will fit, but not the wider 15″ ones, as you’ll run into arch clearance issues. Suggest you try one of the many BMW breakers yards you’ll find up & down the country, as they’ll always have wheels. Look at Google or Yellow Pages.

Q: Is BMW car company at 22 Garden Close,Stamford,Lincs,PE9 2YP,UK a valid business? Do they conduct lottery?
I got an email notifying I have just won a brand new BMW 5 Series, M Sport Saloon car and a cash prize of £500,000.00 GBP in the satellite software email lottery. On line Sweepstakes International program held on 30Th of july 2007/2008 conducted by BMW LOTTERY BOARD in which my e-mail addresses was pick randomly by software powered by the Internet. Is this valid lottery or a Haux ?

A: BMW don’t do lotteries. This is a scam. Delete the mail, don’t answer it.

Q: I drive a new BMW 540i – should this need topping up with oil all the time?
The dealership said that new BMW’s need topping up with oil. I think this is rubish. I have owned 3 new BMW’s and I ahve never had this problem before – unless this is something to do with V8’s?

It might be the sensor though – it keeps going off telling me that I am below the one litre minimum. I then put a liter in and the info tells me that the sump is now full!

The car hsa already been in once – they said they replaced the sensor but who knows.

Is this a problem with V8’s – or is it a software problem on the 5 series?

Any help would be apreciated.

A: does it have a dip stick?
if so what does that say…

Q: Getting a bmw cant decide which one 3 series or 5 series?
ok so im getting a BMW not new but 2005 -2009 i cant decide between the 3 series and 5 series i want more of a sports look and should have many tune up options i want it to be conferable but have good performance, i want high performance but dont want to be unconformable driving i cant decide on sedan or coupe either i know the 5 series only comes in sedan and the 3 series in both but i want comfort for me n my passengers im only 18 so dont need nothin for a family
p.s. if u have more then 1 bmw that you think i would like put them all down i’ll take a look at them thx

A: I recently went through this problem too. I went with the 3-series of course. The 3-series reminds me of a younger, sportier look, where a 5-series reminds me of a doctors car. I recently purchased a 330ci convertible, and I love it. I have friends who have 5 series, and I wouldn’t trade them at all. Although, BMW has its own distinct styling, there is so many nice things you can do to add/upgrade the car. The 5-series is too “sophisticated” to be messed with.

Hope you chose the 3-series…

good luck

Q: is it possible to trade a leased bmw for a new bmw?
im asking if its possible to trade a 528i that was leased about 6 months ago for a new 5 series F10 version. i know there might be a new down payment but im willing to pay another down payment for a new 5 series. i want the latest model and i dont feel as good with an older model of the 5 series

basicaly im asking if you can trade a car that was leased from bmw…. for a new bmw . i think maybe they will accept the deal because im buying from them no?

im planning on buying from pacific bmw in glendale CA. if the location helps

A: ask them the worst that can happen is they say no

Q: Is the new ///M1 series BMW the new ///M3 BMW?
With the new range of BMW’s all having grills that remind alot of people of sharks or other odd creatures… making the german executive marque extremely unpopular..
The best looking out the lot being the 5 Series and the one series coupe, I expect it to out sell the new 3 series coupe. With 3 series coupe looking like a boat or maybe the german marque have copied the 1990’s Alfa Romeo Spider.. which also looked like a boat! Just look at the back of the two!!!
have Bmw not reincarnated the late 80’s/early90’s Italian??
look at the back opf the car only and maybe you too, will see the similarities??!!

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=QtgO_i2b5Hc

A: Big difference between the 135i and the new M3. However, I do believe the new 135i with its more classic proportions and twin-turbo engine could gain cult status.

Q: i wanna import a car to india its bmw 5 series and right hand drive that car is 5 year old?
what are the charges of custom and duty and ihave to pay on the price of a new car or the current price of that car

A: Bring it in pieces and get it assembled here! It will save you a LOT!

Q: new bmw 3 series in forza 2??
In one of the forza motorsport 2 trailers it shows that you can have the 2006 bmw 3 series. but in the actual game, the 2006 bmw 3 series is actually a 2001 bmw 3 series. even though it says the model of the car is a 06 model. why is this??

A: Because the trailer is meant to attract people to the game so they buy it. There are lots of things the trailers for this stupid game shows but can’t actually do in the game.

Forza 2 sucks. Even gran turismo 4 on ps2 is better than forza.

Q: About how much is a new transmission for a 2000 BMW 3 series?
Looking into buying a BMW but it needs a new transmission and i was wondering about how much would that cost for the transmission and installation?

A: Go to the links shown below. All 2000 323i/is had a defective part in their auto transmission causing them to fail as early as 80,000 miles.

BMW replaced my transmission for $7,000, but charged me $3,500 for it.

Besides transmission issues, this model year also suffers from structural problems involving rear subframe separation.

Also, the front suspension towers would mushroom (bulge up) over time, making it impossible to align properly.

This is just 3 of the more major issues connected to this model year… there’re tons more.

VERY BAD deal, don’t buy it. This is a very bad model year.

Q: What do you think of this new BMW 3 series?
It’s called the 320d SE Efficient Dynamics and does 68.9mpg (combined), has 163hp and 265lb/ft torque. 0-62mph takes 8.2secs. Impressive? I think so.

Here’s the official BMW link with a picture:

If you’re in the USA or anywhere else not in Europe, do you think this car would sell where you are? Would you buy one if you were looking for a bmw 3 series or similar? Yes – maybe they would have to make a few modifications for US regulations, but just assume that could be easily done. And it’s only available as a manual… although BMW do have an 8 speed auto coming soon that works with stop start technology.

just interested in other people’s thoughts really. I think it’s really impressive how much they have improved both power and fuel economy over the last decade. 9 years ago the 320d only managed 136bhp and 49.6mpg, so they’ve gained 25bhp and almost 20mpg, as well as the car being a little bigger.
I disagree about the C-Class, looking at their NCAP crash test scores, they’re pretty similar on safety. And its not cheaper either, compared to the standard 320d se, an equivalent model would be a c220 cdi blueff. elegance, which costs about the same (www.whatcar.com target price) and is less powerful, slower to 60, and rated a worse car overall. If you pay an extra £1000 you can get the C250, which is more powerful and faster but more expensive.

A: i think it is excellent

A: absolutely love it – I do think it is an amazing car too; I’ve written a letter to Santa already. It got a 5* star review by Exchange and Mart which is pretty amazing – not many cars get the full 5 stars! The only thing negative to be said about it really is the options are very expensive on it, so we all better get playing the lottery! If I did have the opportunity to own this car though, I would definitely go for it – hope that is a help

Q: 2009 BMW 3 Series New Body?
I was looking online and it seems as if BMW is going to change the 3 series. Do you think the tape on the cars is just to throw off the auto spies? The tail lights look very small… PLEASE HELP.
*I know it is getting a full new body in 2012, so why would they change it in 2009 also?

A: BMW make these small facelifts so that they can keep the customers buying their cars. It is a way of making the buyers think they are buying the completely new series of that car What they are actually doing is making small changes after each time interval until they release the whole new design. The tape makes it hard for the auto spies to dertermine what the car looks like. It basically covers up the curves of the car. It is also so changes to the design can be made without spies knowing what they’ve changed (since they don’t know what it looked like in the first place).

Q: Is there a better looking sport coupe nowadays than the new 3 series BMW coupe?

A: Absolutely not!!!! The new 3 series coupe is the best sport coupe on the road. The old 3 series coupes were also the best looking and fastest. BMW Rocks!!!

Q: if i put aside 3 grand for maintence repairs on a fairly new bmw 3 series would that be enough??
im going to buy a bmw 3 series 07 with prolly like 30 thousand miles on it.. i want to know if it will be breaking down a lot and i will have to drop a thousand bucks every time something goes wrong. are they reliable and how much does the average repair cost for a bmw give me a price pleasee is it 100 dollars or 1000 dollars.. please give me prices dont just say its really expensive. thank you

A: I have an E46 M3 2002 63000 miles and have had only minor problems with it. Everything has been covered by the warranty and then the extended maintenance program. That’s 6 years that it hasn’t cost me anything except the $1200 or so for the extended maintenance program. It covered about $1800 in maintenance costs that I would have had to pay if I didn’t have that program. From here on out it’s all my cost. But that’s just maintenance. Nothing major has broken. The sunroof broke, but it had a TSB for it. The radio was replaced, no big deal. Basically if you buy one more than 3 years old it’s going to have already had the little things go wrong and get fixed.
I did have a dead O2 sensor early in it’s life, but hey O2 sensors are not car dependent, could have happened to any car. I have not spent a dime on repair or maintenance in 6 years. The only repairs I’ve paid for were my fault, like when the chunk of snow fell off a semi in front of me and I hit it. Or the numerous cones I’ve hit while autocrossing that broke the front fender liners, or the rear bumper and 1 exhaust tip when I backed into a light pole. Recent dead battery issues were the result of an aftermarket (Blitzsafe) adapter for an Alpine CD changer. Oh yeah I did pay $30 to a junk yard for a new HVAC controller. The little fan inside quit working which samples the cabin air. It’s been a really good car.

Q: How long will the new face of BMW 3 Series be in the model??
For how many years do you think BMW will have this face. Until which year will it change it??

Q: Can you get a bmw navigation installed in a new 3 series that doesnt currently have one? same with a sound sys
I want to buy a 06 3 series that doesnt have those features with it, was wondering how I could get those?

A: If i were you, I would get an aftermarket nav+soundsystem rather then going through all the trouble of getting an oem. OEM is very expensive compared to what an aftermarket offers nowdays.

Q: Should I buy the new Audi A5 or the new BMW 3 series Coupe? And why?

A: They are both gorgeous. Lucky you .
================================================
The A5 will be offered with two gas engines, the new 1.8T FSI that produces 170bhp and a 3.2L FSI V6 that makes 265bhp and 243 ft-lbs. of torque. The TDI motors include a 3.0L oil burner making 240bhp and 369 ft-lbs. of torque and a smaller 2.7L mill making 190bhp. It appears that only the 2.7L TDI is front-wheel drive only, while the other three models are available with quattro all-wheel drive. All models of the A5 will come with a standard six-speed manual transmission, while the 3.2L FSI and 2.7L TDI models are available with Audi’s CVT transmission called multitronic. One can also choose an S-line sports package for the A5 that makes it look the part of a performance coupe. Unfortunately, Audi made it clear in its press release that no TDI models will be made available in the U.S.http://www.autoblog.com/2007/02/23/audi-releases-official-info-on-a5-s5-with-new-images/
=======================================
Of all the cars BMW’s engineers get to fling around the Nürburgring test track, we would guess the star of our latest video is one of their favorites. It’s the 2008 BMW 3 Series coupe and it’s headed for U.S. showrooms sometime in the next 12 months.

Like the 2006 BMW 3 Series sedans, the coupes built their reputation on delivering perfect balance, exceptional steering and suspensions that can make a hero out of anybody. Great engines have always been part of the mix as well, and the next generation of 3 Series coupes won’t disappoint. They’re likely to make use of BMW’s latest line of straight-six engines, so expect to see both 325Ci and 330Ci two-doors in the lineup with 215 hp and 255 hp, respectively.
============================

You have to sit inside and get the feel from the inside. One of them will feel right for you.
From the pictures-the BMW was gorgeous. One shade of cobalt blue that was used did not look all that attractive, but all the other black, silver and platinum were nice.

Q: should i buy bmw 07 3 series sedan barely used or the new 3 series hardtop convertible 10,000 miles on?
im not sure about the bmw 3 series hardtop convertible because i live in jersey and im not sure about the snow in the winter if it could leak threw the roof if i get snow on the roof.. and can water come threw the hardtop covertible if i bring it in a car wash? answers would be wonderful i dont wanna throw away my money

A: The hardtop convertible is a much better choice as long as you don’t plan on taking the car to the track… it is still a convertible and will not be as stiff as a coupe. It gives you great flexibility and I think you will enjoy the convertible more than you imagine in NJ… good convertible weather in NJ. Sweet car. Good luck. It won’t leak… don’t give it a second thought. If it were to leak it is under warranty for 4 yrs/50k and they would fix the problem right away. It is a non-issue.

Q: Which new 3 series BMW has a Bi-Turbo option?

A: A friend of mine drove the 335ci at Pocoono raceway and loved it – said it was better than any M series car out there…

I saw a 335i the other day at a car club meeting – what a beauty!

The reviews are in on the turbo – and they seem to all be good!

Q: Should I go for used 2003 BMW 3-series sedan or New 2008 Toyota Solara Coupe ?
I love BMW, but both the cars mentioned cost almost the same.
which is more reliable ? and which one will be more fun driving ?

A: Once you drive a German car, nothing else drives better but the question is:can you afford to maintain the BMW?
After selling cars for 11 years in US and 5 years in Europe and I own a BMW , I will say that Toyota will be a better choice for you.
It is newer, under the factory warranty, better resale value and way lower to maintain.

Q: Would you rather have a BMW 3-series or the new Mercedes C-class?
I like the BMW because of it’s performance but it’s just so common. which would you have?

A: BMW

seems to me the lower priced BMW is a much better car than a lower priced MB.

if you put any stock in Consumer reports at all notice several BMW’s are recommended while none from MB.

Q: new bmw 3 series pro and cons?

A: Pros: Great car, fast, good looking, comfortable, best in class gas mileage, even though its expensive it has EXCELLENT value for money, Satellite navigation is good, auto-dimming mirrors are nice, xenon headlights are superb, swiveling headlights are very useful and reliable, has a lot of cool extras, luxurious, you can drive it and not be deemed a cock, it’s a BMW. Ride comfort is amazing even at 120 mph, its more comfortable at 120 than my kia is at 70, no lie. Road holding, and handling is good, gives you a sense of safety when in it/driving it, it is safe. Small but there’s a lot more head and leg room in the front than it looks like, good sized trunk, and the new hood makes it look muscular. I-Drive isn’t near as bad as it is made out to be, it was actually very simple for me to figure out. Impressive AWD system, cup holders really aren’t that bad, neither is the stereo, and the transmission (auto or manual) is also very impressive. Also a lot of cool car monitors to look at in the i-drive, and all maintenance is covered for the 1st 4 years/50,000 miles except tires which is nice.

Cons: Not a lot of room in the back if you are 6 foot like me, extras can get pricey (like leather, sat nav, and auto transmission), after rides longer than 2 hours the seats make my back ache (easy fix though, i just adjust the lumbar support and turn on the heated seats), if you run low on gas (satellite navigation or not) all the clocks disappear, its easy to go fast without realizing it, and the car makes a annoying bleeping noise from the second you turn it on till you put on your seat belt

Overall superb car and i would definitely recommend it, i drove the competition and they can’t compete. The only thing that even gets close is the Mercedes C-class and Audi A-4, but i’d still have my three series over them any day. If you are looking to buy it, do it! The 2011 is just so much better than my 2007 3-series and 2009 5-series, for all the pros i put above and just for something else i just can’t put my finger on

Q: 2006 CPO BMW or New 328??
Hey All,
I have been(still) considering a 2006 beemer 325i for some time – till I looked up the invoice price of a new 328. i was shocked. Its only 2k more than the CPO model. So i guess the “pricier ones” are normally 330s with premium, navi and CWP.The only option i need is leather/seats and i have driven(test) beemers with just that part of the CWP. Dont think it can be more than 1-2k. Am i rite? Any ppl with similar config(325/328 with heated seats) – how much did it cost you?

Shud i go for a new 328 or CPO 2006 325? Also if new, which ones better – 08 or 07(other than the 4 year warranty part)?
I am confused and need some advice .

Appreciate all the help.
Thanks !

A: When you buy a used car, you are taking a chance on getting a bad car. Certification means that the dealership (NOT the manufacturer) has gone over this car and it passes all their inspections. They do not rebuild the car, they just inspect it. The used car manager gets paid a portion of the profit, so his incentive is to minimize the reconditioning cost (cut corners). Also, you have to wonder why someone traded the car in? Was it giving them trouble? Did they damage the car and then trade it in? Maybe they couldn’t afford the car and since it was being repo’d, they beat the car to death?

For $1-2K, it makes no sense to get a CPO car. Just make sure your comparison is correct. I doubt you can get a BMW 328i at invoice. If so, you are an incredible negotiator, because you just took all the profit from the dealer and the salesman gets paid a “mini” for all his work. Expect to pay about $1,000 over invoice at the very best. Also make sure the invoice cost you are using includes local advertising fees. The dealer has to pay this and they will pass the cost on to you – its on the invoice.

Finally, consider the options you want vs need. Real leather seats are nice, but BMW leatherette is very high quality and most people never know they have synthetic materials. You can also get just heated seats vs the entire CWP. I’m not a work now, but from memory, heated seats are about 500-600. A used car also has less maintenance time from BMW and it may not have a “Lemon Law” policy.

Good luck and enjoy your new BMW!

Greg

Q: i have a tail light out in bmw 328. the bulb is new and the fuses are fine what else could be the problem?

A: The problem is the electrical contact where the wire harness connects to the bulb carrier( the big plastic part that holds all the bulbs.) it you remove the carrier and unplug it look at the connector on the wire harness you will see it is melted. This is a common problem on the E46 3 series BMWs. There is a special tool needed to remove the wire terminals from the housing so you will have to take it to a shop to have it repaired.

Q: Which car should I get? BMW 328 , Prius, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord? Or should I wait for Honda’s new diesel?
I’ve been wanting to lease/buy a 3series.
But after reading “Rich dad Poor dad”, I kind of want to save my money. I also did some research on Accord and they are coming out with a diesel Accord in 2009, but that’s too long of a wait.
That’s why I was thinking about leasing.

A: get the accord 5 speed. honda has the best reliability, if not tied with toyota at a cheaper price.
the prius transmission is a new kind called cvt. they dont have all the bugs worked out and they cost a lot to fix. like more than 5 grand the dealer will soak you for.
the bmws have a reputations for being no more reliable than the average american slop-mobile.
the manual transmission accord is least likely to give you any problems, and ive been in them and they are HUGE and COMFY.
toyota has been having a rough time in the last few years with quality too. they cant get enough japanese guys to come over here and crack the whip so the lackies make a poorer car lately.
Be good to your honda and youll never need another car
oh, and even for a larger car, the v6 accord is great on gas.

Q: Is there a faster way to scroll through Artists using the BMW interface for your iPod?
I just bought new BMW 328 (2009), I connected my ipod and ran into an issue, everything works great, but when i want to scroll through artists the wheel just doesnt scroll fast enough. I do not have the nav screen so its the standard radio dash. I have over 2000 artists so it takes me forever just to get through the A’s. Is there anything i can buy or do so i can scroll quicker or jump to a letter in the alphabet??

Thanks!

A: I don’t think so, but if you have an iPod touch it’s faster just to do it manually on the iPod

Q: yeah so i am thinking about getting the new 2009 Bmw 328xi … and i just had a few questions?
yeah so im thinking about getting the new 2009 328 xi.. and i just wanted to add navigation, black leather, 17 inch rims, and xenon lights.. i was just wondering how long would it take to be shipped? and if not.. do u think dealerships would carry that kind with limited things???

A: Most cars that are sitting on dealer lots will have popular option packages, typically option groups such as the premium or cold weather packages, or maybe a sport or technology package.

To find a relatively stripped down car, or one with very specific options is very unusual, and even more so now in light of BMW’s stated desire to sell higher profit (i.e. more options) cars in the US, in the face of the shrinking market. As others mentioned, dealers will look for cars at surrounding dealers, including in adjacent states, but if you’re very particular then you’ll likely not find what you’re looking for.

That means you will very likely have to order a car to get it the way you want it, and wait a couple of months to get it (the dealer can tell you the lead time). However, if you can bear to defer your gratification and order the car, you do get a couple of interesting options:

1. European delivery. Pick it up at BMW Welt in Munich, then drive it in Europe, have a nice vacation, and fly home. Your car is shipped to your dealer, arriving around 4-8 weeks later. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and there’s about a 5-10% savings over the list price.

2. If you can’t spare the time to have European vacation, pick up the car at the BMW Performance Center in Spartanburg, SC. You get very special treatment, and it’s all at no extra charge.

Have fun!

Q: tail light and insturment cluster stop working sometimes in my 97 bmw 328. I have checked the fuses and bulbs?
the bulb is new and the fuses are fine. The bulb works in the other tail light so its fine. no fuses are blown. sometimes it will work but sometimes not. what are some causes and solutions. thanks

A: Check the bulb sockets for corroded/pitted/burnt terminals. Check also the cable connector for burnt pins. Ditto with the socket where the cable connector inserts into. Make sure that the ground terminals or wires are normal. Do not forget the 3rd brakelight bulb and socket.
EDIT:
The answers to your previous question which I failed to notice
beforehand are all correct. So obviously my answer is just a repeat of what was already said.

Q: BMW 328 1997 3series problem with ECU?
1997 bmw 3series 328 ecu is broken any info on how to fix it or where to get new one cheap

A: http://car-part.com/
Try this website. Another asker found good results with it. New ones are never cheap. Also remember that programming is usually needed
along with the problem of mating the DME with the EWS (anti-theft module).
Since the DME is not repairable (except maybe for loose/bent pins or open/shorted wires) saying that your DME (ecu) is bad is a pretty big decision or conclusion to make. I hope whoever diagnosed it as bad did it properly for it costs big bucks to replace.

Q: 1997 BMW 328 ignition key stuck in on position, why?
I pulled up to stop in a car park and the ignition key wouldn’t turn to shut off the car. The key then pulled right out of the ignition with the key still in the on position, and the car kept running with no key (had to stall the car to shut it off). What are your thoughts? Do I need a whole new ignition cylinder or has something just come undone in the mechanism. Before this happened, the key used to spin in the ignition before I turned the steering wheel and the key ‘caught’ and turned the engine on. I’m thinking it has maybe been on its way out for a while and this was it breaking completely.
The key slides in and out of the barrel perfectly, as normal. The problem is the key wont turn, unless you really force it – when you do this the key spins round and clicks bak into position. But it isn’t actually altering the ignition position ie doesn’t turn off the ignition. The battery light etc is on, so the battery will drain. I took it to the garage I got the car from and they’re gonna fix it under warranty, but I’m curious as to whats happened. Its as if the steering lock is on because if the lock is on you need to turn the wheel slightly to get the key to turn. However, the steering lock isn’t on (as the wheels will turn), and turning the wheel does not allow the key to turn. I had to get the car bump started – not good.

A: oops…should have repaced the ignition switch a long time ago. you may have additional problems now.

Q: Questions on BMW 328i 328 coupe 07 2007, please help Thanks?
Looking to purchase first bemer, skeptical so please help me out for those knowledgeable. I was looking at an 03 porsche boxster, and i found a nice used one for 30 but i backed off bc i do not know the maintainance level and i heard there are alot of payments to keep that car up and i want a car thatll last me a long time and not be a headache as well. I heard certain cautions with just washing the soft top and havintg to drive it regularly or else batter will fail so i moved on… i came across the bmw and liked the new 07 coupe bc of the new warranty which covers all maintainace and i test drove and fell in love, i was wondring if i wait a while how much do yuo think the price will deppreciate for a used one…and how long wil these cars last, above 100k and after the warranty is over will i have alot of trouble, does anybody have bmw assist, how is that? please give me any insight or advice, thanks!

A: The price of the new coupes will not go down that much. They’re a hot car right now and I know people won’t have problems with the new coupes. I have owned a 86′ 325, 91′ 318, 93′ 540, and a 93′ 328. ALL over 150 thousand miles and ran excellent (the 86′ 325 has 225 thousand) I would wait a year and try to get one that’s been used. I know you want a 07 but the best time to buy a 06 is now, when the new models come out last years models have great pricing and great offers. I dont know why that is but it is what it is.

Q: BMW Oil change 328i 2007 model with 23k miles?
I am going for a oil change tomorrow for my BMW 328 i, 2007 model with 23k miles. What kind of Oil should I ask the dealer, or what else I can suggest him to do. I am very new to BMW’s, so just wanna make sure I tell them what is better for car, bcoz, sometimes they just don’t do it, unless we ask for it.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

A: Don’t bother recommending what oil to use to a dealer, for you would only make yourself look more stupid than you really are.
But mention whatever defects you think should be addressed by them, not imaginary or crazy ones.
On their side, the dealer inserts your key into a key reader which connects them to the BMW service network, which identifies any other concerns that should be done to your car aside from regular servicing.
Many people are so stupid as to think that dealer personnel does not want to do needed repairs to their cars. Dealers make money by repairing cars under warranty. No repairs, no money.
Additionally, you can mention that the wiper blades does not clean properly, the front and rear brakes are noisy, and the check engine light came on sometime ago but is not on right now.
Never ask for a software update. The dealer will do it if needed, and not because some internet expert said so in a forum somewhere.

Q: Bmw 328 or Infinity G37 or Nissan 350Z?
Hello, I know about all of the three cars above and I can’t pick one between them. I am in the market to least a new car next month and I need to chose between these three cars. Which one would you pick and why? All of them 2007 or 2008

A: Here is the run down on all three. Since u are to least these cars u won’t be able to do any upgrades on them since it violates your contract!
A) the 350Z has lots of aftermarket that u can add on it turbo, supercharger, body kit and all that stuff but as I mentioned u cant upgrade your car.
B) the bmw has one big problem since it doesn’t come will inter-cooler for the turbo at low speed running u will end up over heating the engine or really close to it! But side note is that since u are leasing if the car breaks down it is not really ur concern (something to keep in mind and that’s really with all three)
C) G37 is not turbo and I don’t know how significant and loud is the sound of BMW its something u might want to look into, let’s face it turbo sounds beautiful!

Now all of this mentioned I don’t know what your age is but u might consider BMW or G37 as your chose since if you are in late 20s or higher they are both more comfortable then 350Z and b/w the G37 and BMW for little more G37 comes with a lot more gismo.

BMW is good but the inside of G37 looks more new and BMW looks like the 3series nothing special the truth is BMW and G37 perform pretty close and if u race either one its gana come down to the driver.

So my point has been 350Z is a bit different then the other two inside looks a lot sporty and feels smaller compare to the other two. Now if u test drive any of them make sure the tires are same since riding on 245/35/19 is a lot different for example then a 245/75/17 (higher the middle number more cushion ride)

So my order of choice 1st G37, 2nd BMW, 3rd 350Z ( and if none of this did any help things to keep in mind which one has better look in your opinion, sound of engine, and the inside look, since the all three perform is I mentioned very close to each other u don’t need to worry so much about that)

anyways best of luck to you

Q: should i get the 2009 bmw 328xi with idrive or the 2009 bmw 335xi without idrive?
yeah so the idrive system is the naviagation unit, and bmw has updated its new one.. the 328 im looking at has navigation and other things and it cost around 45,000… but then the 335xi doesnt have navigation and cost about the same… and yet the 335 xi has 300 hp compared to the 328xi’s 230.. should i get the navigation cause its pretty cool?

A: If i were you i would get the 328 because it is fast enough. it has 230 hp which is more than enough to power a small car like a 3 series. it’s still incredibly fast. plus the navigation can come in handy when you need it. yeah i would get the 328 with nav. it’s a fast car with loads of tech…

Q: Audi 2.0 quattro vs. BMW 328 ix?
I’m looking to buy a new car- 2007 model. I keep hearing how the Audi quattro will outperform a BMW in the snow, which isn’t surprising considering the quattro’s a 4 wheel drive and the BMW is a rear wheel drive. But what about comparing the quattro to a 4 wheel drive BMW (the “ix” series)? Which one would you rather have and why?

A: bmw a little pricier but retains value a little better. as far as the 4 wheel drive, both systems will work fine- so it’s essentially a wash. go with whichever one you like the most- they’re both good cars.

Q: Audi A4 2.0 quattro vs. BMW 328 ix?
I’m looking to buy a new car- 2007 model.
Q: Help! My doors won’t unlock on my new BMW!!!?
Oh my gosh! Weird! I picked up the car last night (its a 328 if it makes a difference) and the damn thing won’t unlock for me! THe BMW keys are different: it doesn’t come with a ‘key’, its more like a remote. The lock button works, and the trunk button works. How come it won’t unlock? I have places to be soon… Help?!?!?

A: Contact your nearest BMW dealer and they will send you the BMW service car. That’s for one way, but for another way, is if you have the spare key try to unlock it manually. Or on the key itself the one that looks like a remote you’ll find at the back of it something that can slip to one side. Slip that side and the key will appear. I hope those tips I gave you are going to be useful. Let me know what happens ok?
Q: How much to lease a new 328i bmw?
How much would It cost to lease a new 328i for:

48 months
$6000 down payment
With the basic options
Please don’t give me a rant about how much the down payment is.
What do you mean by depreciation?

Im leasing it not buying it so… why would I have to worry about that?

A: 4 year lease? You don’t want that man. 2 year lease is what you want else the depreciation kicks in hardcore. Plus it’s a 328i which is slow as balls…seriously. The payment is probably going to be around 450 maybe more.

I won’t give you crap about the down payment but it is insanely high for a lease. It should be around 2500-3500 maximum for an ordinary car. And the 328 is basically the definition of ordinary or mundane…

Q: What state in the mid-atlantic region of the U.S. would have the best deal on a new BMW 328i?
I’m going to get a new 328i and live in Virginia Beach, VA, but there are only two dealers here and they both suck. So…I heard that BMW dealerships up in Maryland, Philly, and New Jersey give much better deals on BMW’s. Is this true?

A: shop on line and find a sales person and a dealership that you like … tell them in the emails that you are ready to buy and they need to call you and discuss the prices and the equipment on the ride and the color .. get the sales man to commit to you ———– you are the buyer and if it is a price you like then you got a deal … shop from your easy chair …. not you job place …. and keep looking until you find the deal that you like….

Q: How long should i “break-in” my new BMW 328i coupe?
I know that with most high performance cars, not really saying that the 328 is that much of a high performance car, you have to wait till your first oil change to really gun it. What is the truth behind it and if so, how should I go about “breaking” it in.

A: as a tech, we break them in when we PDI them before you guys buy them. (pre delivery inspection) basically if you dont give them hell the first time they are driven off the truck while they are ticking, we have found that they will tick for the rest of their life. after that they are put on the lot to buy you should follow the break in proceedure on the sticker youll find at the top of your windshield, drivers side. basically no high revs over 5k easy driving for a few thousand miles, and definitley dont be late for your 1st oil change, i think you can be a thousand or so under the 15k mark to get it done earlier,
which i would advise. if they give you guff at the dealership just tell them youd like it done now because you’re going on a long trip and prefer it to be done at this dealer.
good luck!

P.S. i do not advise following pancakes advise because any service not performed at the dealership is non warrantable. follow our break in as per the manual and sticker and you wont have any issues. if bmw finds out you changed your oil early and the indicator cbs is wrong then they wornt warrany any engine problems and youll be screwed. trust me, ive seen all our new cars come in with no problems at first oil change (15k). the engines are (major)broke in at factory, seating the bearings and rings till the engine is put into use.
just follow your cbs in your cluster and i drive!

Q: How often do I get service/ maintenance for my new, 2011 BMW 328i?
I just bought the car last week and all the sales rep told me was, “the car will let you know.”

He didn’t really elaborate except to show me on the idrive system where it measures the oil life and other stuff. He said I didn’t need to come back for ANYTHING until 15k miles.

No inspections, services or maintenances. Nothing.

Generally, car makers want you to come back after the first 30 days or so to check everything out. Does this sound right to you other new BMW owners?

A: All new BMW vehicles will be fully covered in their maintenance program for 4 years 50,000miles. See link.

There is no need to go back for anything until your first oil change is due. But it is recommended that you take it easy on the car for the first thousand miles or so before you start revving hard on the engine.

If you drive normally, your oil change will only be due at 15,000 miles because they use fully synthetic oil only. However, you might need to verify the oil level when you reach 8000 miles. New BMWs have no dipsticks. So you might need to have a chat with the service guys…

Q: What is the least I will pay for a new 2008 BMW 328i?
I am talking the bottom line 3 series, no upgrades whatsoever. Yahoo Autos says $29,810 as MSRP. Has anyone recently purchased this vehicle that could lend their opinion? I am in PA so I figure another 6% sales tax + tags on top.

A: About $31,865+tax&tags… If you want a new car off a dealer lot.

$29,810 is top of the sticker invoice. Top of sticker MSRP for a zero option 328i sedan is $32,410.00

Best you can do right now is about $500 – $800 over dealer invoice. BMW just raised prices but you can still find cars on the lot at the old price.

Total Dealer Invoice for a zero option 328i is

$29,810 + $180 Training Service Fee + $775 destination charge + MACO.

Maco is a regional advertising fee. It is about $300 give or take.

Add all those numbers up and that is what the dealer pays BMW for the car. — Add in another $800 or so

and that is $31,865.

Q: New Prius III with Navigation or Certified Used 2009 BMW 328i?
I am planing to buy a car. I am confused between a Certified Used 2009 BMW 328i (16500 miles) or a Brand new 2011 Prius III with Navigation. The price for both the cars out of door will be around 28000$.

Any help will be appreciated.

A: The Prius will have far lower maintenance costs. My 2004 with 115,000 miles on it has cost 12 cents per mile for dealer maintenance, tires, and fuel combined. The high owner satisfaction rating for the Prius indicates that my experience is not unique.

I believe that the Prius is more comfortable on long trips as well.

If you like to DIY, it’s easier to work on the Prius.

But the choice is yours because cars are really a personal decision and one size doesn’t fit all. Drive both and see which you like better.

Q: anyone know where i can get a brand new bmw 328i convertible 08′ ?
anyone know where i can get a brand new bmw 328i convertible 08′ for 36 months $5000 down payment and around $399 per month?plz help is that a good car please respond asap

Q: I buy my son brand new bmw 328i for his birthday and he badly crashed the car. how come?
my son turned 18 and so i get him 2009 bmw 328i. The next day he crashed the car at over 60 mph by jumping the red light.

The car get very badly damaged and was towed away. I am very shocked at his careless behavior. people tell me i am at fault for getting him new car, but i was just showing fatherly love.

so am i really at fault

A: The kid is spoiled and doesn’t appreciate your gesture of getting him a car.
Having gotten him a car, you need to take steps to get him to appreciate what he has… make him go to work to get his own second car, since he destroyed this one.
He won’t appreciate this, but then again, he didn’t appreciate the car you bought him.
Some years down the line, the lesson will make a difference. He will better appreciate the things he has earned. A little discipline right now will help him become a man.

Q: Can I finance a new ‘09 BMW 328i Convertible for under $450/month?
Can I finance a new ‘09 BMW 328i Convertible for under $450/month?
(This includes all places where I could go for the money to finance.)

Detail…
South Florida
Down Payment of up to $6500
Really good (not perfect but way above average) credit.

If this isn’t possible which year on this model could I get?

A: The price of that car is around $40,000 or less due to the economy right now. As far as your payments go, with a $6,500 down payment adding taxes, registration, and licensing you would have to get a 84 month loan at 5% interest and you would only be able to afford a $35,000 car instead of $40,000. So hopefully you can find that car for that price.
If not, check on craigslist.com, Upillar.com, oodle.com, and vast.com for deals. I would try finding a 2008 because it will have already depreciated and you will be getting pretty much the same car just instead of 09 it’s an 08. Some cars I’ve found for your price are 2005 BMW 745i, 05-07 M5, 05-08 335i, the list goes on. Do some research on those websites and you’ll find a good deal. Hope this helps.

Q: im looking for a new BMW BADGE for a 328i?
Im lookin for a custom made BMW badge for my new 328i… i was thinking traditional SKULL and CROSSBONES….sooo black and white basically… does anyone know where id find somethin like that???

A: Try this site:

http://custom-car-emblems.com/

Q: How much would a paint job and new interior cost for a 2000 BMW 328i Sedan?
I want the whole black on black look. There’s wood trim in the interior and I’d like that to be metal too. Be honest with the price average.

A: If the car is not Black now to repaint it would cost about $5,000. Keep in mind when changing color on a car there is a lot of extra time and work involved. To change the interior to black? My guess would be about $4000 there is a lot of leather in there and then all the door panels.

Q: I’m thinking of purchasing a new BMW 328i series. How reliable is it after the 4yrs?

A: Only as reliable as the maintenance it got for 4 years by the original owner–he could have beat it to death or treated it as a nice car–gave it 3000 mile oil changes and filters were changed when required. If the owner now will not allow you to get YOUR mechanic to check it top to bottom and underneath–do not buy it–do not buy it—got that??? High mileage may not be a bad thing on a well maintained car–but he will tell you anything to sell it–so get it checked first. Then if you buy it….take good care of it—maintain it every 3000 miles–oil service–is the big savior when it comes to cars–any cars.

Q: Brand new 2008 BMW 328i depreciation?
If I were to buy a brand new 2008 BMW 328i how much depreciation am I looking at since the 2009 models are available for ordering?
What is the mileage difference between the 328i and 335i not considering the BMW rating but realistic values?
Well the 2008 328i has a 0.9% finance rate. When you say killer deal… how much should I be looking below the invoice price?

A: It’s hard to say.

You have to keep in mind that the 2009 models have a bit of a face lift. More aggressive styling, different hood, different front bumper, and a bit changed around the back. A few new features.

So your 2008 model is going to almost immediately look like last years model (which of course it is about to be).

However, the new models have a price increase on them too, thanks to inflation and the weak dollar.

I would expect the ‘08 model to lose its value a little quicker now that it is no longer the current body shape. However, that said, you should be able to get a good deal on one given that all the dealers are going to want rid of them so they can bring in the new stock.

I’d check out some of the forums for advice.

Personally, I’d rather pay the extra for the new model. I hate to buy a car and then have it look ‘old fashioned’ just a few weeks later. So for me the deal on the 08 would have to be killer.

All that said, I have an 07 328, and it is the best car I’ve ever owned. You are not making a mistake in getting either. They are just wonderful cars. Anyone who criticizes them, clearly has no clue about cars.

Q: how much does it cost to own a new bmw 328i?
like with insurance, repairs, maintenance and other stuff together

A: New BMW’s come with a 4-year 50,000 mile warranty, and 4 years of scheduled maintenance included in the price, so repair and maintenance costs will be minimal, unless you decide to spend more on extra oil changes, etc.

Your basic expenses for the first 4 years and 50,000 are going to be:

Depreciation (about 40-45% of the list price for the first 4 years, based on looking quickly at the purchase price of a 2004 325i and its value today).

Financing (although there’s .9% interest in new BMW’s in the US right now).

Gas

Insurance (depends on your level of coverage, where you live, your age and driving record; get multiple quotes).

Taxes (some states, like CA and IN, tax you on the assessed value of the car).

Tyre replacement (if needed)

There’s more (lost interest income on the money you spend on the car, for example), but those are the biggies.

Q: used e46 bmw m3 or new bmw 328i?
should i buy a used under 50,000 miles bmw e46 m3 that is in good condition or a new bmw 328i. they’re both around 30,000 something so I’m def having trouble deciding

A: I’m not sure what country you are from, but in canada the 328i starts at $41.5k, and a used e46 m3 in good condition with <50,000 miles will be about $30k give or take a couple Gs. It's a 3.2L l6 @330hp and 260 lbft of torque. The 328i is a 3.0L l6 @230hp and 200 lbft of torque. When it comes down to performance, clearly the m3 is better, but if you tune the 328i with a dinan kit, it could blow the e46 away.

All in all, the newer e90 328i looks better, has more features inside and out, and while it can’t compete with the m3 performance wise, it can be tuned to do so (if you can save up the cash for the future), so your better bet is probably the 328i, or at least that’s what I’d go for.

For more information about BMW 335i visit your top automotive resource BMWCoop.com

Q: What would you choose between used 2008 BMW M3 Coupe or new 2009 BMW 335i Coupe?
I am about to get either one of these: Used 2008 M3 coupe or New 2009 335i coupe.

Used 2008 M3 (that has less than 12000 mileage) is about $6000 more expensive than a new 335i.

Is paying $6000 worth enough?

What are pros and cons for these two vehicles?

Thanks.

A: Do not listen to the first poster he is ignorant and does not know what he is talking about. First of all, BMW engines are not V6s they are Straight 6s. Also the 335 has 300hp.

Now moving on to your question…

The M3 does have 414 hp and it is a small V8 (4.0L) It also has a redline of 8400RPM. THAT IS HIGH!! It will have noticeably louder engine noise, the suspension will be a lot more stiff and sometimes it will be uncomfortable. The M3 is a great car, but it will be more expensive to repair. The Oil is more expensive and parts are as well.

The 335 is more lightweight it is more comfortable to drive and it is certainly fast. It has a twin turbo 3 litre engine that still gets amazing gas mileage while being faster than most cars on the road. If you buy a brand new vehicle then you do not have to worry about paying for any maintenance on the vehicle.

The M3 is the better car obviously and it will get a lot more heads to turn and it will be a lot more fun to drive. But it will cost more to maintain, it will be more uncomfortable to drive and it will bring more attention.

If it were me, I would chose the M3, but thats only because I race on the weekends.

Here is my suggestion, go test drive them both and you will see that the 335 has more than enough power to please you. And you will also notice that the M3 has more power than you can handle.

Happy motoring and let us know your decision!!!

Q: How many pistons are on the front brake calipers on the new Bmw 335i and also are the brakes any good?
just been wanting to know and if you don’t know you can guess .

A: Only one on each caliper, not two, not four, not double-sided.
And yes BMW brakes are good. Why ever did you ask this question?
Nobody that I have heard of has ever sued BMW for inefficient brakes.
Of course it could be better (with ceramics, more pistons, etc.)
but cost is always part of the compromise in these situations.
Had you been reading about the exotic cars that have brakes costing more than an entry-level BMW?

Q: New ‘07 BMW 335i Coupe — What’s the BEST cost for a new 335i?
Okay… I have been doing all of my research. How much though? How does anyone know how much markup is in a new BMW car such as that of the 335i Coupe? I have researched Edmund’s MSRP, Invoice and TMV cost values. However, how true are any of these? How can one really get to know what this car can be purchased for? The ROCK BOTTOM reasonable offer is WHAT???? As per Edmund’s the car of my choice with all the “bells and whistles” I want has an MSRP of $54,595; an Invoice cost of $50,090 and an Edmund’s True Market Value of $53,061. What is the present best offer I have obtained for the car? Answer: $49,000 inclusive of BMW interior floor mats, carpeted and all-weather type. However…. how do I find out how much the car is really able to be purchased for????

A: yeah, what julio said…plus , in case u military , shop at the nato sales in germany…safe the taxes on it plus the shipping is included in the price

Q: should i get a new bmw 335i, an IS-F lexus, or just stick to a nissan altima 2.5? SOmeone HELP?
im choosing between thrreee cars, but look wise, speed wise, and just generally wise, which oneshouldi get? The bmw 335i, the new lexus is-F, or the nissan altima 2.5 HELP

A: just stick to the pos that you drive now

Q: I am researching the purchase of a new ‘07 BMW 335i Coupe.?
I am quickly discovering that the “off the shelf” EDMUND’s and similar MSRP, Dealer Invoice, etc… listings do not do justice to what is “realistic” as to the ROCK BOTTOM cost I can get for the purchase of a new BMW 335i Coupe with jsut about all of the “bells and whistles” as they say. HELP!!!! Anyone out there that can provide some valuable insight? I am now at $49,000 for an MSRP listed cost of $54,595 and invoice cost of $50,090, and EDMND’s so-called True Market Value of $53,061. When would be the BEST TIME to buy? Any hints as through whom to get the best ROCK BOTTOM deal? I am thinking that if I can arrange a “cash deal”… if I can… then the bottom line is that I should be able to get this car for a lot less than $49,000. No? Final question…. anyone know when the ‘08 model year is released for Bimmers? There is an oil pressure concern with this new model that hopefully will be attended to in the ‘08 model year.

A: Let me get this straight? you were offered 49000 for a bmw with an invoice of 50k and you didn’t take it? You don’t think that is the rock bottom price? These cars are going for full MSRP in my area, and I throw people like you out of my dealership. The dealer who is offering you 49k, has something up his sleeve, he WILL make money on that car, Not lose money. He is a lot smarter than you, rest assured.

I have a feeling that you are just getting jerked around because you are really not a buyer, anybody with half a brain would have jumped on that opportunity. Go to a toyota store if you want to pay under invoice.

Q: Do u think I should get an alarm for my new 2007 BMW 335i?
It has that new smart key….where it’s not actually a key…more of a remote looking thing. My sales rep. told me that it’s hard for someone to steal those cars but I dunno. The alarm will cost me around 1k at the BMW dealer. They don’t suggest an alarm from a different place because of all the wiring that was done at the BMW place and that would jeopardize my car and my warranty coverage. What 2 do?

A: why bother surly you will have it insured if a thief wants in he will get in

Q: Lexus IS-F or New BMW 335i coupe?
I am debating whether I should get 335i coupe or IS-F. Which one would you recommend? and Why? (please be specific)

I can afford new BMW 335i but I have to buy used IS-F (less than 10K mile)

A: Demo model IS-F. The 335i is nowhere near the same league as the IS-F is. Plus that 5L V8 just sounds bloody t*ts…Also as much as I love the BMW M3 which is more of a fair comparison, I prefer the look of the IS-F. There are one or two problems with the F though. The most noticeable one is the extra-long gearing. And when you have an 8-speed (yes, 8-speed) gearbox, extra-long gearing just doesn’t work. At all. Still, it’s got loads of power and torque to throw around and while the luxuries aren’t there compared to the M3, it’s got Toyota-style reliability. If you prefer smooth lines and smoother handling to the swoopy bodykit and power-over-handling of the IS-F, go with the M3. And yes, the M3 is faster around a track. But I still love the IS-F more.

Q: Which one to lease? Used 2006 Porsche 911 C4 Auto (10T kms) or New BMW 335i Hardtop Convertible? $30k differ?
Used Porsche priced at $100k while Brand New BMW priced at $75K. Porsche is in immaculate condition and very clean Carfax.
Used Porsche price when brand new was $132k…a price drop of $32k after only one year…thus huge savings from first owner depreciation.

A: I love my BMW convertible! Really fun to drive, mechanically sound and looks great. I will buy another when the time comes.

Q: With the new BMW 335i coupe coming out this spring, will there be more 2008-09 used 335i coupes for sale?

A: New models do not necessarily mean more used inventory, most of the cars are leased, so you’ll continue to have the 07’s coming off.

You won’t start to see a good inventory of 08’s until late summer. Most people don’t trade in their cars just because the car is getting freshened.

Q: does anyone think the new bmw 335i coupe is nice lookin?

A: They grow on you. I didn’t like them at all at first, now I love the sedan’s. I’m still working on the coupes though, I didn’t like them at all when I first saw them, now i’m around 40% liking. Black 330i’s are nice. I think the color might play a part in its looks.

Q: what is the price of the new BMW 335i?

A: The new 335i is not out yet. Don’t bother with BMWusa.com its not on there. The only thing you’re going to find is Auto show speulation and specs. Nice car though. I’m glad to see BMW go Turbo on one of their vehicles. I’ve always thought BMW’s 3-series were a little under-powered.

Here’s a link to some of the specs, but pricing was not available as of 4/25/06. Read the last line of the article…
“The all new BMW 335i Coupe will arrive in U.S. showrooms this September.”

Q: Will the new bmw 335i (‘08) have bluetooth A2DP capabilities?
Is there a way to use my Samsung Blackjack’s bluetooth (A2DP) to listen to music though my car stereo? I asked this because; since there is only one port on the blackjack for charging and music (aux), there is no way to do both so you would have to use bluetooth, right????? Thanks

A: Yes you are right. It is also iPhone compatible.

Q: Help with negotiating Tips on New 2009 BMW 335i xDrive Sedan?
Hello All,
I’m currently in the market to purchase a new 2009 BMW 335i xDrive Sedan. Here are the options/trim levels that I am looking for:

Premium Package
Cold Weather Package
Navigation
Automatic Transmission
Anti-theft Alarm

I’ve been doing some research on invoice pricing, factory to dealer incentives, factory to buyer incentives and such on Edmunds, Car Buying Tips, Cars, Invoice Dealers, and Yahoo.

This is my first time buying a car and my first time applying for any type of loan (to finance). My credit score is pretty good too since I always make I pay off my credit cards on time. I’m just a little nervous about going in and negotiating the price since I can pretty much assume that they will keep telling me that I can’t get the price I want anywhere.

Any good tips on sticking to my initial offer? I would say my offer gives the dealership about 5% profit. Plus they would be making money off of me anyway when I eventually bring the car in for maintenance.

Also, would I be eligible for the 2.9% financing that they are offering this month?

One more question. What is complimentary xDrive? I’m assuming that they would take the base price of the RWD since they mention in the offer that the xDrive is complimentary. Is this correct?

I know this is kind of broad, but I would appreciate all the help I could get. Thanks a bunch

A: You JUST missed the 0.9% financing in May but you are eligible for the 2.9% financing.

Price: you should pay around 10%-12% below MSRP. If the dealer plays hardball, just go to another one. 335 has a pretty high initial depreciation compared to other 3 series. Add that to the current economy and the fact that fewer and fewer people are able to qualify for loans and you get a really good buyers’ market.

Complimentary xDrive means you get a credit for the price of the xDrive option, i.e. the MSRP difference between 335i with xDrive and 335i w/o xDrive.

Q: I have the new BMW 335i (coupe). It has the headlight washers but I don’t know how to use it. Manual = no help

A: I presume you’re referring to 2007 335i coupe. When parking lamps or low beams are on, push the wiper lever towards steering wheel. Washer jets should work twice. Even if washer fluid reservoir is kind of large,it doesn’t take too long to empty it out. I am used to filling it up every month especially during a relatively mild winter. My driver side washer sometimes does not completely retract though.I hope you don’t have the same problem.Enjoy your drive!

Q: 07 BMW 335i or xi is there really a big difference in traction ?
i love the new bmw 335i coupe i am wondering if its really worth waiting untill late fall for the xi all wheel drive. the dealer is trying to tell me that i will be pleased in the traction control currently in the 335i. i think hes just trying to make a quick sale considering the vehicle is fifty grand with all the options i want. am i wrong in assuming this?? i really do like the car and if its true that the existing traction control is adequite i would buy right away.

A: Ask yourself this question. Why do you need all wheel drive? Is it because you frequently have difficulties climbing up a hill where you work/live during winter? Do you even plan to use this car in the winter??

Most people want all wheel drive because they live in the snow-belt and frequently experience traction problems.

I live in NH, believe me, it SNOWS here. I put on a set of winter tires on my BMW 328ci. In a year, I probably wished I had all-wheel-drive 2 out of 365 days. For the 363 days, I’m quite pleased with the car.

In fact, the accidents I see on the roads when it snows are mainly four-wheel-drive SUVs and even some Audi (with quattro all wheel drive). The reason being many of these owners think they are bullet-proof when it snows just because they have four/all wheel drive vehicle… and push their vehicle beyond sensible speeds and drive recklessly.

Also, many people are still ignorant to the fact that even if they have AWD, they still would need winter tires to be really safe. When there’s no grip, even if you have 6 wheels on your car with 6-wheel drive and it wouldn’t make any difference.

The DSC on my BMW works very well with my winter tires. And I would imagine you would find the same on yours.

The 335i is a nice powerful car. Why add the extra weight of an AWD system (which makes the car SLOWER and adds $$$ of extra gas money per year) if you’re only going to need the AWD system 2 days in a year? I’m not even saying that without AWD, you’ll be dead stuck for those 2 days, just drive sensibly and you’ll be fine.

If your reason for wanting AWD is not even related to snow driving (ie; if you believe the car handles in high speed curves better), I would disagree. BMW has been making “the ultimate driving machines” with RWD-only historically (only very few models had AWD). Go for the 335i.

Maintenance cost in the long run would probably be higher in the xi – because you now have more moving parts (extra drive shafts, joints…etc), and chances of having something failing would be higher.

If you want the xi, I’d get the 328xi instead. Because I feel the 335i engine would be a waste in the 335xi.

Good luck, and enjoy the car! I envy you

Q: What is the boot size of a BMW 3 series and 5 series 2005 onwards new shape?

A: The 3 series saloon boot is 460 litres, the 5 series saloon is 520 litres.

Q: BMW 5 series lease old man needs help?
I am an 80 yr old man and like to buy a New car every 3 years. i Pay in cash and pay upfront. i have a 2008 saab 9 5 that i own complely with 7k miles on it. i want to trade it in for a NeW BMW 5 series as BASIC as possible i want to léase this time and pay the money all upfront.the trade in value for my car is 17k. what will I have to put up for the BMW for a 3 yr lease..I only need about 5k miles a year too

A: Financed cars is more expensive to insurance cause it requires full coverage. You can compare how much you would pay for full coverage of this car using this tool – carquotes.fateback.com

Q: i have also got the same mail that i have won an bmw 5 series and cash price of £500,000.00? is this a scam?
Dear Winner,

I hope this helps,

Andy

Q: What is your experience with your BMW 5 series(newer model)?

A: You might not get many answers for this one if you mean the 2011 BMW 5 series. Most people who will buy the 2011 Model are waiting for the 528I sedan to come out for sale, which actually was today!!!!!! The 528i sedan was just posted on their BMW site about 45 min ago so Im going to go ahead and build my 528i for fun!! The National MSRP for the BMW 528i is $44,550. It Rivals the Audi A6 at $45,200, the Lexus GS at $45,600, the 2011 Infiniti M at $46,250, and the Mercedes E-class at $48,600. Ironically the BMW 5 series undercuts all its rivals in terms price but its still offers less standard then its competitors. The 2011 BMW 528i produces 240HP standard which is horrible when compared to its rivals like the 2011 Infiniti M37 with 330 HP standard at $46,000. The new 2011 5 series still has alot of testing and reviews to go before a final judgement can be made on the car. So far it has only been a month since the new 5 series with bigger engines have been put up for sale in this market.

Q: Why did bmw called the new 5 series “F10″ and not something with an E? like e39 e60?

A: “The E in the E-code stands for Entwicklung, which means evolution or development in German. Motor Trend reports that BMW will be dropping the E-code and using a new F-code as the E-code is already nearing it’s limits in terms of numbers since it’s reached 90 already with the latest 3-series. The 2009 BMW 7-series will be called the F01 and the L long wheelbase version (750iL?) will be called the F02. The next 5-series will be known as the F10. Note that facelifts do not entitle a new chassis code as it is essentially the same platform with a facelift.”

they simply ran out of E numbers. next logical letter would be F, the new 7 series was dubbed F01, quite fitting for the flagship car to start off a new series!

Q: What’s so bad about the BMW 5 Series iDrive system?
I have heard so many negative things with the BMW’s iDrive system. But can someone explain to me what is so bad with it? What does it actually control? How does it function? Im asking as I am think of purchasing a BMW 5 series new shape.
I see! It appears we have mixed feelings on this subject. From what your all saying it appears BMW are using a sledge hammer to crack a nut…..CD player – One button to turn on – BMW iDrive – 12 buttons to turn on by the sounds of it!!??

A: Imagine trying to program a DVR that was designed by the Post Office. It’s extremely difficult to navigate, unintuitive and you have to page through about three dozen menus just to find something — all while driving in speeding traffic.
Screw that crap — just give me a car with a f***ing button to push when I need the GPS or stereo or climate control.

Q: What do you think of a 16 year old driving a brand spanking new 2010 BMW 5 Sries Gran Turismo as a first car?
just wondering what people at my school & my friends might think of me driving a brand new BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo as my first car.
it’s a gorgeous car and i’ve had my eye on it since it first came out
& FYI, i’ma girl who is EXTREMELY responsible. the people who said i was “extremely spoiled” or a “snobby rich kid” is just jealous because my daddy did something good with his life to provide a good life and luxury for his family.
& to the person who said :
“Such a car would look a wee bit out of place next to the Escalades, the BMW 7-series, the S-class Mercedes Benz and the Ferraris at my High School. If it’s not at least a hundred thousand dollar car it has to be parked on the street.

Obviously, you daddy doesn’t work as hard as our daddys do.”, I got to choose my own car and I didn’t choose it for price. The BMW 7 series resembles that of an old person car. Just letting you know

A: I think all of you people calling this person a spoiled rich kid is just mad. You guys are just mad and jelous that your parents couldnt afford for you to drive a brand new BMW for your first car, so all I have yo say to that is stop hating. People are always happier when someone isnt doing as good as them, but when someone is doing better, they want to start all of their negativity. All though that is an expensive car for a 16 year old and its a fast car. I really dont think this persons parents would let him/her drive it if they didnt believe they were responsible enough to have it. All i can say to you is just be carefull with it and enjoy the lime light. I just wish I had a car at 16 and it could have been a pinto for all I care……..lol. I think that you should ignore what people say and keep doing what ever you are doing to make your parents feel comfortable enough to let you have a first car like a BMW, because apparently you are doing something good. Oh and ignore the haters, because they are just jelous.

Q: 04 5 series bmw high mileage concerns?
hi,looking at a 04 new shape 5 series 2.2petrol… its really cheap (4-7k less than others) but has 125k miles on the clock….as i only wanted a sunday car i thought it might be ok? also it has bmw fsh and a 12 month warranty…i also know the only previous owner and its nearly all motorway miles….would really appreciate any advice you could offer! cheers!

A: A four year old BMW with 125K.

These cars don’t really start working until they get to 200K you will be fine.

Just make sure the high mileage is reflected in the price

You say a 12 month warranty which suggests you are buying from a dealer. Not so good news. Really hammer the price down. Make sure you know the real value of that mileage car before you go in with an offer.

Q: is bmw going to come up with the new 5 series anytime soon? i want to buy an 06, 545 i should i wait?

A: They are going to come out with the new five series this year. It is only going to have small exterior and interior changes including a new front apron and a new interior. Go to the link below for more info.

Q: Is the Orange BMW in the new fast and furious a 5 series?

A: yes its 2001 bmw 528i. for the movie they make it look like an M5 but its actually an automatic, i don’t think the m5’s came in automatic during those years.

Q: will 5 series bmw wheels fit toyota highlander?
SET OF GOOD SNOW TIRES. MOUNTED AND BALANCED OVER ORIGINAL BMW ALLOY RIMS.WILL FIT ANY 5 SERIES BMW 2004 OR NEWER. Trying to figure out if these will fit on my 2008 Highlander Limited.

A: Nope. BMW has 5×120 bolt pattern while the Highlander has 5×114.3 bolt pattern.

Q: In black… Which car do you like more, the 3 series or the 5 series? (BMW-the newer models)?

A: i like the 3 series, because its smaller and therefore more fun to drive.

the 5 series is a great car too, but a little big for my tastes

Q: Would you rather have a bmw, mercedes, audi, or lexus. Currenntly looking for a new or used car.Which looks best
I am really looking into the mercedes e-class or bmw 5- series. P.S do you guys think the new bmw 5 (2004-2008)looks better than the old (2001-2003) ones

A: I would rather have BMW cos they just take my fancy more…I like both those 5’s. I recently sold my M5 (E60), but I really did like the design of it. I also have an old 5, and I think they’re a pretty nice looking car aswell. I think that most Mercs are pretty ugly…haha. Lexus’s look even worse, and I like a few Audi’s, but they don’t look as good as the BM’s. BMW is good for reliability, looks, and as Jeremy Clarkson would say POWERRRRR! Haha.

Q: does the bmw 5 series have a smoother ride then the 3 series? what about the new 2007 x3? how is the ride?

A: Hi there,

I guess you wanted an objective answer to this one.

Generally, the five, being a bigger heavier car does have a smoother ride.

A lot will depend on the engine you select, the straight six is smoother than the straight four, the V8 is a lot smoother than the straight six etc.

Try them and see.

On the X3, cannot comment as I have no experience. Don;t wish any experience either. (Is that a comment?)

Hope this helps

Q: Why do BMW reccomend a higher tyre pressure for the rear tyres?
For my rear wheel drive 2005 (55 reg) BMW 5 Series new shape – Bmw recommend 33 psi front and 41 psi rear. Why is this?

A: The 5 Series has a slightly heavier rear axel weight with monster trunk lid, fuel load, rear passenger load, and possible trunk luggage. The wider tires (staggered) on the rear will spread the load significantly. I think BMW was trying for a 50/50 balance but could not always control the car’s loading when the cornering was in an aggressive handling attitude. I hope you got the RUN FLAT tires off your car, too.

Q: i have a new bmw x5 jeep, it has a skirt and kit, does anybody know roughly how much extra this will cost?
i have a new bmw x5 jeep 09 plate, it has a skirt and kit, does anybody know roughly how much extra this will cost or should i take it off, i bought it like this so do i have to tell the insurance company, my insurance is already 3 grand a year cos i have speeding convictions and im 24, but iv been told they wont pay out if i don’t say its on the car, please help,

A: Yes you have to tell them unless it was a factory fitted option from new in which case it is not a modification. They can use it as an excuse not to pay a claim if you do not tell them.
They might happily cover the car still, increase the price a little but treat any claim as if the extras were not there – return to standard.
The cost will vary depending on the insurer, some will flatly refuse to cover it at all, you need to ask the insurer.

Q: I want a new bmw x5 should i get it?
are those good cars to have and what series is the best 3.0, 4.4, 4.8, what? i donno please help i want to get it soon. and how much would the insurance cost?

A: No, don’t do it get an old car becasue new cars are too expensive and you will loose a lot of money on them.

Q: can you please show me the image of a key of a New BMW X5 E70?
heres the detail – http://www.bmw.com.ph/asia_dl/ph_en/newvehicles/x5/x5/2006/allfacts/design/exterior.html

who can give the first answer and image of akey i will give ten points.

A: Hi Special Forces,

The remote will be exactly the same as the one in this picture.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3265/2427719735_bb2a94203b.jpg

A key blade can be removed from the remote in the instance of the remote not working.

Hope that helps, Pyth

Q: When is the NEW BMW X5 going to be released?

A: The redesigned X5 for 2007 will be in showrooms this fall, more specifically during the end of November

Q: Does anyone know the name of the (trance)song on the new BMW X5 commercial?

A: It sounds like Trentemøller – Take Me Into Your Skin … But it isn’t. I came here looking for the same answer

Q: Which one of these is the most value for money and the best quality? Audi Q7, NEW BMW X5, Mercedes M-Class?

A: The M-Class has very poor predicted reliability. It is so bad that the bar goes off the Consumer Reports chart.

The Q7 also has much worse than average predicted reliability. It isn’t anywhere near as bad as the M-Class though.

The X5 has average predicted reliability.

Value for money I think the BMW and the Audi are about tied.

Q: new BMW X5 worth it?
Are the newly designed bmw X5 ’s worth the price? are they powerful , yet roomy for 2 kids?

A: its totally worth it my dad has a sports edition of the new x5 its sweet toyally worth it

Q: How much is the brand new BMW x5 4.8is?

A: Stars at $54,500

Q: Which Of This 2 Vehicle is Faster – The New BMW X5 (E70) vs Volkswagen Touareg?
who will win the drag racing?

A: im not sure who would win in a drag race, whatever one has more power and is lighter, but i can tell you the bmw will have better workmanship, take turns alot better, and be a stiffer more sportier ride.

now if you threw the cayenne turbo vs. bmw x5 M, that would be an interesting race

Q: How is the brand new BMW x5 4.8is?

A: Fantastic!
Really, it’s an amazing car.
As long as it’s got sport package and is as new as possible.
=D

Q: Is the New BMW X5 3.0sd, possibly, the greatest diesel SUV ever made??
It’s Quick, 0-60 mph in 7 secs and a top speed of 146mph, CO2 Emissions are 216 whilst returning 34.4 MPG all for £42,000

A: I agree with you.
I love it.
It is a lot prettier than the ML and the Q7.

Q: Which Vehicles Is Faster – The New BMW X5 (E70) VS Range Rover Sport?
Who Will Win The Drag Racing?

A: Quarter mile time for the X5(2005) is 14.510 @ 96.2 MPH. And for the RRS(2006) it’s 16.410 at 85 MPH. And sorry to correct my last answer, the X5 was from 2005(I didn’t see the dates), so I would assume the new X5 would be a tad faster. For reference, I’m getting my answer from dragtimes.com ( http://www.dragtimes.com/BMW-Times.html )

Q: The New BMW X5 E70 is it 4×4?
is it 4×4 or not? who can give the best answer i will give ten points!

A: Technically the BMW iDrive is an AWD system, but yes all X-5’s are 4WD

Q: Does anyone know of what new features the 2008 bmw x5 will have?
Curious to know if theres any point in waiting another few months for the 2008 x5 rather than buying the 2007.

A: contact BMW

For more information about BMW 3-Series visit your top automotive resource BMWCoop.com

Q: I am getting a new car (BMW 3-Series) new model and wanted to know how good they are on diesel?
I am getting a new car (BMW 3-Series) new model and wanted to know how good they are on diesel?
There are a good few friends are telling me not to go for it because I should set my sights lower (Vauxhall,Ford). My mum included thinks I should go for something with smaller payments. I am male and nearly 25 in December. The last time I got a car was about 4 years ago and It was a very bad buy.

A: Here in the USA, we are supposed to get the new 3 series diesel. The ratings claim to be 33mpg on the highway in US gallons which translates to a little over 39mpg imperial for the UK. Diesel is priced much higher than gasoline here which has been a barrier, plus we have VERY strict emissions on them. One reason why we do not have a wide choice here. The VW Jetta diesel’s fuel economy was pratically killed by the extra added emissions. I have read where the BMW 3 series 6 cylinder diesels were getting close to 48 imperial miles to the gallon over in Europe. If they add more stuff to them in the USA, it will drop more. We have to pay a lot more the diesel option. What is a crying shame is that the USA has not embraced diesel technology like it should. Hybrids have been pushed hard by our Government and environmentalists. With diesel fuel being a lot more than gasoline, that is hurting sales. IF the US version diesel performs poorly over here, it would be advantageous to get the 6 cylinder gasoline because they do get good fuel economy. In Europe diesel is the way to go and there are far many choices. Also the emissions on them are not as strict. I think you will be okay buying a 3 series diesel over there. It will probably take the United States 3 more years to straighten out the diesel prices and get more diesel cars over here. If that will ever happen. 8 years ago, diesel was much cheaper than gas over here. Now the oil companies are making the biggest profit off of it because they can.

Q: Is the new BMW 3 Series reliable?
I heard good things about the new 3 series. I see tons of older bmw 3 series running like new with no rust whatsoever.

A: you don’t see any rust because the bmw’s use stainless steel.

Q: New shape 57 BMW 3-series headlight problem, always on?
I have the new BMW 3-series coupe and the headlights are always on during the day even if it’s a very bright day. they’re only meant to come on automatically when it’s dull, i think. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

A: The running lights turn on only when it is overcast or dark,
and during night time (this is switched on by turning the light switch to the left of the center mark).
But even if the manual running lights switch is off, if the car had been programmed to turn on the lights at ignition on,
then the lights will go on. You have to ask your dealer to turn it off from your car/key memory (CKM). Or, if your car has the I-drive, then navigate to settings, and turn it off. Some new E90’s can reset their CKM thru the left signal light stalk, but this is a little complicated for owners and it is best for the dealer tech to do it for you.

Q: how much will the new bmw 3 series convertible cost.?
i think the new bmw 3 series convertible will be in showrooms in april
the new 3 series convertible will come in 2 models. the 325i and 335i.

A: Depending on features, plan on spending approximately $45K.

Q: if i get a new BMW 3 series for my first car, is it nice enough?
Im 17 an getting my first car, do you think a BMW 3 series is nice enough?

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carquotes.fateback.com

Q: Whats the cost to own a brand new BMW 3 series in CA, US (with Tax, insurance etc.)?
Whats the cost to own a brand new BMW 3 series in CA, USA (including, Taxes, Insurance, and other hidden costs if any)?

A: I assume you don’t mean the cost of the vehicle, since the 3-series has quite a few trim models and loads of options, and the price range is broad, from $30K all the way to over $50. And I assume you will negotiate this as hard as you can. In websites like Edmunds you will have some idea of what others are paying, carsdirect.com is helpful too. Consumer Reports have a very very detailed new car report for only $12, well worth the money.

Insurance has to depend on lots of factors, your location, driving record, …….many many, so no one really can give you an estimate without knowing more details. In metro areas you can count on a high insurance premium. I suggest you to shop around a few insurance companies.

In general, all things equal, insurance is relatively high for BMWs.

California tax rate is 7.25% standard, but many counties and cities have special sales and use tax, see this for details: http://www.boe.ca.gov/cgi-bin/rates.cgi

“Hidden” cost? you also need to pay for registration and license plate fees. Make sure your dealer do not put in any other costs beyond this, tax and the cost of the vehicle itself. One time a dealer put in $200 document fee and I walked right out.

By the way, BMW pays for all the regular maintenance within the warranty period, a great saving in thousands!

After that, GAS! gas price is very high in CA, so you’d better factor that in.

Q: What do u think about the new BMW 3 series 2009?
I saw it today. Outside it was gorgeous but when i saw the interior i was soooooo disappointed. Why the interior is so badly made?? I am considering of buying a car and when i saw it i thought that it was a great choice but after that i am thinking again about the audi A4 and mercedes C-class

A: The Interior design was always like that. Usually black in color, very sporty.

Audi interior is more luxurious and better quality. They are known for that.

Q: How do you hotwire a brand new BMW 3 Series?…..I’ve lost my keys?
Oh, and get access inside without causing too much damage?
I’ve forgotten where I bought it, I was drunk at the time.
I want to get it started, not just take the alloys.

A: give the front bumper a good hard kick car will tnk its been in a smack up air bag will go off car thinks hes dead all electrics will reset then u only got a bout 2 miniuts to rip off the underside of the steering coloum red black and orange /blue wires twist and go works with new volvos to !

Q: I’m getting my first car and I’m trying to get a NEW BMW 3 series coupe (possibly older model) for under $25k?
I won’t and can’t get a used one. and i duno where to find them and where to look at for probably an older model that would be cheaper and under $25 thousand dollars

A: Oh that’s funny.

Q: Is the new BMW 3 series a reliable car?
I heard they were really reliable cars if properly maintaines.

A: For a German car, yes.
But not nearly as reliable as Japanese cars.

Just better or as good as some American cars.

Q: Anyone out there repair the new 3 series bmw ?
i’m looking for a headlamp bracket that bmw say dosen’t exist ?

A: try another BMW dealer ..but they are normally very good .. did you take the damaged bracket in to show them ?..try looking under the bonnet of another 3series to see if they do exist…have you got one on the other side ..

Q: i am buying a new BMW 3-series light arctic-green car.?
I have a dilemma on the interior colour choice. All black interior with titanium-matt trimming or should I change to the shiny or other coloured trimming? The existing one is boring n plain.

A: Arctic Metallic was available as a color choice for 2008, but you can’t build a 2008 anymore, so you can’t pick and choose unless a dealer has mutiple arctic metallic cars which itself would be odd as it’s the least popular color. Arctic Metallic has been replaced for the 2009 ML by Blue Water Metallic.

Q: Is there a panoramic glass roof option available for the new BMW 3 series coupe? Thanks?

A: NO. They just have a regular sunroof.

Q: should i trade my 2002 BMW M3 Convertible to the new BMW 3 series Hardtop convertible?
BMW is coming up with the first ever 4 seater hard top convertible.

A: THE CHRYSLER SEBRING IS A FOUR SEATER, AMONG OTHERS…ANY BODY AND EVERY BODY IS RELEASING A HARD TOP CONVERTIBLE. SO IF YOUR LOOKING FOR SOMETHING UNIQUE, THAT WON’T SOLVE YOUR QUEST.
KEEP IN MIND THAT ALL THE MECHANICS TO GET THAT ROOF INTO THE TRUNK ADD WEIGHT TO THE CAR AND RAISES THE CENTER OF GRAVITY,WHICH OF COARSE EFFECTS PERFORMANCE.
WHEN EVER I PLAN ON A MAJOR PURCHASE, I READ ALL I CAN ABOUT IT. THE REVIEWS IN CAR MAGAZINES ARE WRITTEN BY PROFESSIONALS WHO KNOW MORE ABOUT CARS THAN THE AVERAGE PERSON…AND THEY WON’T TELL YOU TO BUY A HONDA INSTEAD!

Q: lebanon: help with new 2006 bmw 3 series?
can you guys help me

Q: BMW 5 SERIES FLAPPY PADDLE GEARBOX?
Hey there i was looking at this BMW 2011 5 series car and the video reviews of its shows the car with flappy paddle gear. So does this car come with a standard flappy paddle and does not come with manual gearbox, i just want to know how it is..

any info on this will help cheers

A: It comes in semi-automatic transmission, which means its got the automatic shifting, but you can also shift it yourself by pushing the shift knob. The “flappy pedal” you refer to is an option to add to the steering wheel on top of the automatic transmission. It also comes in standard transmission with a proper clutch pedal.

Q: BMW 5 SERIES PADDLE SHIFTER?
BMW 5 SERIES PADDLE SHIFTER?
Hey there i was looking at this BMW 2011 5 series car and the video reviews of its shows the car with flappy paddle gear. So does this car come with a standard flappy paddle and does not come with manual gearbox, i just want to know how it is..

any info on this will help cheer

A: It is available as a factory option.
Optional Sport Automatic transmission includes steering-wheel paddle shifters and rpm matching during downshifts, plus a Sport button for quicker, more dynamic shifting (beginning 06/07 production).

Q: Help me narrow down 2 cars to choose from in the group! Infiniti M37, Audi A6, BMW 5 series, Mercedes E-class?
Hey guys Im trading in my current lease on January 15th and Im stuck between a couple cars. I currently drive a 2008 Lexus GS350. The GS was a nice car I never had a problem with it but quite frankly I became bored of the car very quickly so another GS or a Lexus for that fact is out of the question for me. Im looking for a vehicle with a little more pick up in terms of acceleration and performance aswell as reliablilty. I have a couple cars in mind of those being the 2011 Infiniti M37, 2011 BMW 528i, 2011 Mercedes E350 and Audi A6.

Ive taken a look at all of these vehicles except for the 2011 Audi A6. So far the two that have impressed me the most are the 2011 Infiniti M37 and BMW 528i sedans. I really liked the Mercedes but I felt the car was not my style, its very elegant but a bit to bland for my taste. The 5 series felt underpowered to me while the Infiniti M37 was alot more impressive in terms of its driving dynamics. The BMWs interior was alot more simple and modern but it had no soul, the M37 interior is alot busier and I think a little more refined then the BMW. I have heard alot of great things about the New M37 aswell as the 5 series which is why im probably more drawn to the two. Should I consider the Audi A6 or just forget about it. It looks nice but it hasnt really changed much over the years except for a recent facelift. Should I reconsider any other brands and why, if not which would be a better choice within the group??

A: I agree with you on the 5-series and M37, however have you considered a more up-specced BMW 3-series like a 330i or 335i? They would have a lot more poke than the 528i and the interior of the 3-series is a great place to be in. The 335i is like a poor-man’s M3 in terms of performance, a nice and meaty twin-turbocharged inline-6 under the bonnet puts its performance on-par with the M37 and it gets good gas mileage as well.

The E-Class is nice, but Merc’s base models tend to be a bit bland. If you want the full Merc experience you have to look at the bonkers AMG range but they’re out of your price range by quite a bit.

The A6 is a nice car as well but I agree with you: it seems a little bit outdated. Decent to drive, but options are expensive.

Edit: Terrible trolling by dr_curtiz. Did my answer referring to your Kia Rio really hurt your feelings that much? Take your own advice you PM’d me and get a life.

Q: What car should I convince my dad to buy?
Mercedes E350 Sedan

They’re all around 60,000. I’m asking in this section because which one would you yourrself prefer to drive? It’s not going to be my car, but I’ll be driving it a fair bit and would appreciate your feedback.

A: The Jaguar XF

Q: How to get back at him?
There is this guy I used to make fun of because he didn’t have as much money as me. Well turns out he has this rich uncle he didn’t know about. His uncle found him and now he is giving him loads of money. He used to drive a piece of shit Toyota Corolla, now he has a better car than me. I have a 2010 Audi A3 TDI and he has a 2011 BMW 335i x. His family moved in to the same neighborhood me and my family live in. My dad was going to buy this property but at the last minute his uncle gave more money and my dad lost the deal. There is more.

Today after school, I was in my car minding my own business along with my girlfriend and her sister. At the red light, he challenged me for a race. I wasn’t going to race him but his girlfriend insisted that I finish him off and teach him a lesson. Well we raced and he smoked my Audi and than laughed at me after giving me the middle finger. He really embarrassed me. So I asked my dad if he would buy me a BMW 5-series and he said no. Tomorrow night he is throwing a huge party. What can I do? I need to destroy him. Can I report him to the police or something? He is becoming more popular than me, he is destroying my reputation.

A: Sounds like you weren’t so nice to him based on the fact your family had more money than his. So you mad him feel bad to make your self feel better and superior.
Funny thing is, now he has more money than you and is more popular than you. What goes around, comes around.
In my opinion, you seriously need a reality check. Worrying about popularity and money then trying to get revenge? Grow up, get a job and figure out what it is like to pay your own way and earn a dollar. Leave the poor, wait now rich, guy alone and find something better to do with your time, like getting a job or doing your homework.
If anything, you and your arrogance had this coming and if anyone, the guy you mad fun of deserves to get revenge on you and did. The best revenge is living well they say!

Q: BMW 5 SERIES PADDLE SHIFTER?
Hey there i was looking at this BMW 2011 5 series car and the video reviews of its shows the car with flappy paddle gear. So does this car come with a standard flappy paddle and does not come with manual gearbox, i just want to know how it is..

any info on this will help cheer

A: I’m not sure that the 5 series is available with a manual trans but why don’t you just visit their site? As for the paddle shifter, what in the world are those BMW engineers smoking? It is one of the silliest devices I’ve ever seen. First, it works exactly the opposite of what anyone who has ever driven would expect in that you push it away to lower the gear. Second, the 7 speed gearbox can never settle on a gear and is constantly shifting in and out at highway speeds. When you come into a hard corner the stupid trans will all of a sudden drop down about 3 gears causing the RPM to jump about a grand and causing a disturbing oversteer halfway through the turn. I’ll tell you that I have never appreciated my Mercedes so much after test driving this ridiculous car.

Q: what is the breaking distance for a bmw 2011 3 series convertible?
this is for a school project and im stuck

A: Hey,

That must be a fun project!!!

The 2011 3 series convertible is not really a high performance car. Try the M3.

Good luck!

Q: audi a4 2010 2.0tdi vs bmw 3 series sedan india.which one is best based on all grounds?pls help me.?
I am planning to buy audi a4 or bmw 3 series by 2011 january.
i am little but confused which one i should opt.
pls tell me the comparison on all grounds of vechile ( engine, features, techinical specs, comfort, looks, interiors, maintanance, infotainment, saftey, exterio, colour, performance and mileage)
so that i go for the best one.
thank you,
arun.

A: Well Audi is known for its all wheel drive system. So they are one of the best cars for snowy slippery roads. The Audi interior is also much more up-to-date and refined. The Audi 2.0T engine means great fuel economy, but you will need to use high octane fuel because it has a turbo. Audi also has a perfect crash test rating!

BMW has a better reputation, but Audi has made great improvements on the A4 in the past 5 years. BMW is great too, and in many ways I think the cars are similar. I also think BMW offers 1yr free maintenance when you buy new. Audi has a maintenance plan, but you have to buy it.

Im buying an Audi soon because I want AWD and I think the interior is much better.

Q: Is this the true price for a 2008 BMW 3 Series or a possible scam?
So I recently passed my driving test. I finally have a license.
And I was looking for Used cars in carsonlinefree.com
Then I came across this Used 2008 BMW 3 Series.
Here is the link :
http://www.carsonlinefree.com/searchCars/details.cfm?vehicleID=182401&searchZip=90039&searchDist=500&searchType=0&searchMake=BMW&searchModel=&startYear=2000&endYear=2011&startPrice=1000&endPrice=10000&searchNew=n&sortBy=distL&StartRow=1
what do you think about this link :

http://www.carsonlinefree.com/searchCars/details.cfm?vehicleID=183987&searchZip=90039&searchDist=500&searchType=0&searchMake=BMW&searchModel=&startYear=2000&endYear=2011&startPrice=1000&endPrice=10000&searchNew=n&sortBy=distL&StartRow=1

and if possible can you guy give me a reliable site that has used BMW.
or any reliable site that you know of.
please and thank you <3

A: Hi there,

I would definitely think it is either a) a scam or b) a ‘typo’. I recommend creating a new Gmail or Hotmail account and emailing the supposed seller with your queries (best to create a new account just in case it is a scam so the scammer doesn’t contact and clog up up your real email account).

Secondly, this supposed sale advertises an ‘8 cylinder diesel’ in the block of main info. One, BMW don’t make 8-cylinder diesels at all. Two, BMW don’t offer an 8-cylinder alternative to their 3 Series range aside from their performance sports car, the M3 (which this car obviously isn’t). And three, BMW has only just started importing diesels into the US in 2010. No diesel BMW model for 2008 existed.

And thirdly, as I touched on in my first point, perhaps the seller is legitimate but made a mistake in the price. Perhaps she mean $15,100 or even $25,100.

I wish you all the luck in safe buying

Q: Can I trade in my 2009 BMW 3 SERIES car for lower car payment?
I currently own a 2009 BMW 3 series which i bought brand new last year. I owe about 34500 on that and my payments are 735 as of now. I would like to lower my payments to roughly around 560 to 600. I have pretty good finace rate n my current vehical 2.9 % for 5 yrs. I was thinking to go for a 2011 jetta which is around 21000 -22000….would that lower ma payment . i checked kbb it showed ma car value as 26200…please suggest what should i do..My credit is average and makin 56000 a year.

A: doubt it… you still end up paying for the BMW..you owe 34500 no way to get out of that,,you trade in get maybe 18K [they aint taking book]..so you are actually oweing the new 22K plus the old 17K equalling a loan of 39K while you drive a jetta…

Q: Which 2nd hand car should I choose between a 2001 BMW 316(3 series) and a 2002 Ford Mondeo?
Which 2nd hand car should I choose between a 2001 BMW 316(3 series) and a 2002 Ford Mondeo?
Bmw is €2850, 102,000 miles 1.9 petrol engine saloon nct 02/2011
Ford is €2150, 159,000 miles, 1.8 petrol engine saloon nct 08/2012
Whats the best car in terms of fuel efficiency and ride comfort/handling?
Please help, will be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks
Ive opted for the Beemer. 102K MILES- NOTHING!! IS IT?!!!
Thanks

A: the ford will be cheaper to run. although the bmw offers better handling and comfort. I think you should go with the Beemer.

Q: Acura TSX or TL or BMW 3 series?
Looking at 2011 Acura TSX, TL or the BMW 323i. All similiar prices, which one would you get? I am 20 years old.
I am asking this because the TSX and TL are having the christmas special at the moment. This makes the TSX slightly cheaper than a Honda Accord (shockingly) and the TL close to the price of a Honda Accord. Therefore Honda’s are out of the question.

The BMW 323i has a comprehensive 4 year warranty too (mine just ran out when I had it since i was 16). That saved me big bucks for a long time not to mention that 2011 pre-owned BMW’s are already available… which is what I did back in 2007.

A: The TSX is probably $10k less than the TL or BMW. The TL is a large sedan and the BMW has high maintenance cost. Suggest you get the TSX. It’s fun to drive and a good value. Save the 10k for a vacation.

Q: BMW 335i Msport Coupe – your views?
These are pictures of it, for clarification:

watch this:::::::

http://www.youtube.com/user/pwnagefuk#p/f/19/I7nnmPJXsIQ —– please watch this review (really want you guys to see the interior before you answer – skip to 4.00 and watch onwards)

what do you think about the exterior?
what do you think about the interior?
do you think its reliable?
what mileage do you think it will last upto, until it starts breaking down everyday?
Don’t be rude, just asking for opinions

A: F u c king sexy car… best looking car in the world

really reliable, could do more than 150k miles if well looked after

love the red interior, centre console, front and rear lights — i love everything about it

best car out there. !!!

Q: Ladies, do you consider a guy having nice cars a plus?
If you were in high school, and you learned
a guy you may sort of be interested in
and are going to Christmas dance with dad has a 2011 BMW 3-Series, and may get a 2011 Ferrari 458 Italia in the summer, would you consider that attractive, or a plus. Especially if you are fairly low income.

A: Yes, it is a plus to date a guy having a nice car. However, it all depends on if I like the guy or not. If I do, then yes, its a plus. If I don’t like the guy, then the car doesn’t come into consideration.

Q: How to I stream Pandora in my BMW?
I just got a 3 series 2011 and the sales person told me I could stream pandora radio. I have an iPhone but am not sure how this can be done. Help! Thank you!

A: You can listen to Pandora in your BMW through your iPhone (with the iPhone app) by connecting your iPhone to the BMW iPhone/iPod connection.

However, unlike some purpose-built aftermarket radios such as the Pioneer AVIC X920BT, you can’t control the Pandora stations from the iDrive wheel or any of the radio controls. You can only control it from your iPhone, which is kinda inconvenient. But at least you get to listen to the audio.

Q: Best choice out of these for a first car?
I’m getting my license in about a month and i’m looking to buy a car. Preferably used since i can get a nice car in good condition at a low price. I was considering the 2008 Inifiniti G37/G35 (either or), the 2009 lexus IS 250, 2011 mustang, 2009 3-series bmw, and a few others… help me out if you can, please. my price range is around 25,000, preferably under. thanks in advance!

A: I would go with the Mustang, you will have the full warranty. If you really want a Lexus then just get a cheaper Camry and switch the Camry emblems to Lexus ones. You will end up with the same car since the Lexus is nothing but a Camry with different emblems.

The BMW should be a good second choice.

.

Q: How much did your last car cost?
and what kind of car is it?

my mom: $42,000; bmw x5
my dad: $28,000; bmw 3 series coupe
my brother: $22,000; 2011 vw jetta

i don’t drive yet.

A: BMW Z4..I lease it

Q: Why does A4 change so fast?
How come the Audi A4 gets a refresh or line up change every couple of years? I want to buy an Audi A4 but I fear that the new style will be released in a year or two. Can anyone explain why Audi B7 was only on the market for 2 years, and the B6 3 years? I don’t want the B9 coming out in 2012 because then I just wasted 45,000$ on a old style car.

Also should I just wait for the 2011-12 BMW 3 series? I know they do line up change every 7 years.

A: The B7, introduced in 2006 was a refresh to keep its bread & butter car fresh against the 3-series, especially when people turn in their leases and want another A4, but not the same exact looking car.

It lasted 3 years: 2006, 2007 & 2008

The B6 lasted 4 years: 2002, 2003, 2004, & 2005

Q: Which is a better first car?
I am getting my first car soon and out of all of these I was wondering which would be the better choice:

2004 acura cl
2003 infiniti g35
2003 nissan z
2005 or 2006 scion tc
2011 mustang
2003 bmw 3 series

i know that having a bmw that is old and has high mileage will have high maintenance costs but could anyone give me an annual average of maintenance costs if you fix the car your self and you just buy parts?

your help is greatly appreciated

A: It should be 4-door, 4-cyls, not sporty. I would prefer Honda or Toyota… First time drivers usually have much more expensive car insurance, and it depends from car. You should compare insurance rates while choosing the car – for example here – carquotes.fateback.com

Q: can my license get suspended?
i live in new york state and was involved in a car accident.when i switched lanes while signaling from right to left i hit a car and he slammed into a wall while i just had a small dent on my bumper. i told the officer he was in my blind spot but he claims i was racing, he was just pretty mad that i crashed his 2004 BMW 3 series…i would never put my 2011 toyota camry threw all the racing abuse cars get.My question is will i go to court? can my license get suspended just because he said i was racing?

A: Unless he sues you, you won’t go to court. Unless the police officer gave you a ticket for racing, you won’t get your license suspended for racing. This time.

Q: Which car would you choose?
BMW 3 series – sedan
GMC Acadia
Audi A3
Cadillac SRX
Land Rover LR2

Which one would you pick if these were your only choices 2008 to 2011?

A: You also should compare car insurance quotes for cars before buying one, for example here – carquotes.sinfree.net
